AMICAS, Inc. has announced that it will feature RadStream, a next generation software product designed to streamline the communication of, and mitigate the risks associated with, communicating critical results to referring physicians.
AMICAS, Inc., a leader in radiology and medical image and information management solutions, has announced that it will feature RadStreamTM, a next generation software product designed to streamline the communication of, and mitigate the risks associated with, communicating critical results to referring physicians, at RSNA 2007. AMICAS, Inc. will be in booth #2583.
Featured as the cover story in the November issue of Imaging Economics magazine, RadStream is a pioneering workflow solution developed and implemented at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and proven to improve radiologist productivity, service, and quality for referring physicians. RadStream makes possible the automation and documentation of critical results communication and the prioritization of imaging exams based on a 'most likely to interrupt' method.
RadStream brokers communication of positive results to help meet the ever increasing scrutiny surrounding the national patient safety goals outlined by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). RadStream also utilizes a sophisticated prioritization algorithm to dramatically improve radiologist reading productivity because of reduced interruptions.
"With RadStream, we deliver results faster, communicate critical results directly to referring physicians more quickly, document critical result conveyances more effectively, and now deliver better and safer patient care," said Mark Halsted MD, associate professor and chief of the Radiology Informatics Core at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, who will present a session at RSNA 2007 called 'Decreasing Radiology Report Turnaround Times: Impact of Combining Worklists'.
"RadStream helps ensure that we interpret our sickest patients' studies first while reducing interruptions so radiologists can read all studies faster," said Dr. Halsted. "Every one of our patients benefits because RadStream has improved our report turnaround times across the board. RadStream reduced our overall median outpatient report turnaround time by 56 per cent -- including routine studies."
To assess the impact of RadStream, Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the University of Cincinnati College of Business conducted outcomes studies measuring 26,000 radiology operations data points before and after implementation. These researchers found that RadStream improves radiology report turnaround by 56 per cent and reduces interruptions to radiologists by 29 per cent.
AMICAS, Inc. acquired the exclusive licensing and worldwide distribution rights to the RadStream technology in 2006 and is integrating it into RealTime WorklistTM. RadStream, which we anticipate being available in the first half of 2008, also complements the Vision Reach™ referring physician portal to deliver an unprecedented combination of image management and workflow technology.
