St. Joseph’s Hospital Selects AccelaRAD VRN for Digital Imaging Exam Management

Company News - AccelaRAD

AccelaRAD VRN Offers Physicians Anywhere, Any Time Access to Patient Exams

St. Joseph’s Hospital (Buckhannon, WV), a rural facility with a strong commitment to advanced technology, has selected AccelaRAD’s Virtual Radiology Network (VRN) to provide ultra-fast, efficient digital management of multi-modality diagnostic images, including image access for its offsite radiology reading group and report access for referring physicians.

Committed to delivering the highest standard of medical care, St. Joseph’s Hospital offers a full range of advanced digital imaging exams, from x-ray and ultrasound to CT and MRI.  With no radiologists on staff, all these exams are read by a contract teleradiology group, which has been using its own VRN to access the images for some time.  Exam results have been faxed to the hospital in hardcopy, while hospital- or community-based referring physicians requesting images receive them by courier or mail.

Once connected to the AccelaRAD VRN, authorized St. Joseph’s doctors will be able to log on to the system over the Internet from any location and immediately obtain electronic reports and images in full diagnostic resolution from the secure, offsite AccelaRAD archive.  According to Kim Radcliff, RT (R) (M), Imaging Director for the hospital, “The new VRN technology will offer important benefits.  Physicians will have more immediate access to images, which may mean faster patient care.  Additionally, physicians who did not take advantage of the images before are now more likely to do so because of the easy access provided by the AccelaRAD system.”

“St. Joseph’s Hospital has always maintained a strong commitment to delivering the highest level of patient care to the community it serves,” said Sue Johnson-Phillippe, president and CEO of St. Joseph’s. “The new AccelaRAD technology is state-of-the-art and represents another important realization of that commitment.  We are pleased to expand our ability to communicate with both radiologists and the medical community at large to ensure that our patients receive the highest level of care.”

“The VRN’s unique technology and cost structure can bring sophisticated digital image technology within the reach of medical facilities of any size,” comments Willie Tillery, CEO of AccelaRAD.  “Its affordable, pay-as-you-go pricing, maintenance-free software-as-a-service (SAAS) platform, and ease of set up and use remove the barriers that have prevented many imaging sites from converting to a digital environment.  We are proud to help St. Joseph’s Hospital reach out to its local community with a higher level of medical care.”
