Agfa healthcare certifies Plasmon Archive Appliance Express

Company News - Agfa HealthCare
Agfa customers gain access to secure, compliant archiving at low cost of ownership with certification of Plasmon's Archive Appliance Express. Plasmon the trusted source in archiving systems, has announced Agfa HeathCare, a leading provider of IT enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic image solutions, has certified Plasmon's Archive Appliance Express with its IMPAX® six PACS products. This is in addition to the already existing Agfa certification of Plasmon's Archive Appliance.

Plasmon is working with value added integrators in the medical field such as Agfa HealthCare to bring scalable long-term archiving capabilities to PACS offerings for medical enterprises of all sizes from office based systems to large university centers. Both the Archive Appliance Express and Archive Appliance can be fully integrated with Agfa's IMPAX Archive Management System to give customers more security, flexibility and control over their archived data.

"Agfa HealthCare is committed to working with leading companies like Plasmon to provide our healthcare practitioner clients with services that help them simply and cost effectively store and manage their data and records, freeing them to focus on the core of their business -- patient care," said Lenny J. Reznik, Director Enterprise Image and Information Systems Agfa HealthCare, Americas. "Offering Plasmon's easy-to-use archival technology to hospitals, clinical specialties and healthcare facility management allows them to manage growing archive demands, requirements and constraints at all levels from the large medical enterprise to the small-to-medium sized business."

The IMPAX solution enables clinical specialties and healthcare facilities to store, search, print, import and export images, resulting in streamlining enterprise workflow and delivering increased efficiency and productivity to Agfa HealthCare's medical customers.

"As more companies certify the Archive Appliance Express it reinforces the value companies are placing on UDO and archiving," said Mike Koclanes, Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Plasmon. "For the healthcare industry in particular, there's a critical business need for a long-term data retention strategy. By receiving Agfa's certification, Plasmon's Archive Appliance and Archive Appliance Express will help Agfa's customers reduce the complexity of storing years' worth of information, while maintaining the system reliability and data permanence for which Plasmon is known."

By certifying Plasmon's Archive Appliance with its IMPAX PACS products, Agfa HealthCare's clients have the ability to store data from multiple applications in separate, secure archives, whereas other archiving tools do not offer this capability. Individual policies can be applied to each archive enabling healthcare facilities to meet the strictest of service level agreements for performance, cost and protection.

For Agfa's small-to-medium-sized medical businesses, Agfa HealthCare tested and certified Plasmon's Archive Appliance Express which is shipped pre-configured for Agfa's IMPAX PACS software making it is simple to install and maintain. Similar to the Plasmon UDO Archive Appliance, the Archive Appliance Express is a tiered storage solution that allows data to be cached on RAID for quick access while being immediately committed to UDO for long-term retention.
