St. Francis breast health center to be designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology

St. Francis Medical Center’s Kitty DeGree Breast Health Center has become only the second facility in Louisiana to be designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. The hospital is celebrating the designation with a reception from 5-7 today at St. Francis North, 3421 Medical Park Drive, Monroe. The American College of Radiology recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the college’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.It also provides a monthly “Look Good, Feel Better” program at the center that is free to breast cancer patients.

The breast imaging services at the center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Since opening, the center has performed more than 24,000 mammograms, 2,800 bone density tests, 3,000 breast ultrasounds and 650 breast biopsies.
