Ronald E. Freedman named ACR Assistant Executive Director

The ACR is pleased to name Ronald E. Freedman as Assistant Executive Director for Education, Socioeconomic Research, Marketing, Communications and PR.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) is pleased to announce the addition of Ronald E. Freedman to its staff as Assistant Executive Director for Education, Socioeconomic Research, Marketing, Communications and Public Relations.

Freedman will direct the department which develops the College's education offerings, including the ACR Education Center, which offers next-generation educational resources and teaching methods. Additionally he will have responsibility for all ACR internal and external marketing and public relations efforts as well as socioeconomic research and technology assessment activities.

Freedman will leverage more than 25 years of experience in strategic management, business development and marketing to expand to expand the ACR's educational offerings and further enhance the College's role as a primary representative in all facets of the radiology profession.

"The addition of Ron is another in a series of significant steps forward for the ACR as an organization. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will greatly enhance the College's education and outreach efforts on behalf of the College's 33,000 members," said ACR Executive Director Harvey L. Neiman, MD, FACR. "His record and accomplishments rival that of anyone in the industry. We look forward to his leadership and contributions in these areas which we consider integral to the continued vitality and advancement of radiology."

Freedman previously served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing for VCampus Corporation, a leading provider of Web-based e-Learning solutions. Prior to joining VCampus, Freedman served as Vice President of Information Assurance and Chief Security Officer at USinternetworking, Inc.

Freedman also worked for General Electric for 15 years, including five years at GE Healthcare, the GE business unit that provides services in medical imaging and information technologies, medical diagnostics and patient monitoring systems. He also served as a Presidential appointee, on loan to The White House from General Electric, responsible for developing contingency plans as part of the Continuity of Government Program. He received a Presidential Commendation for outstanding service during that assignment.

Freedman received a BA in Economics from Northeastern University in Boston and an MBA in Management from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.
