The American Hospital Dubai will play a high profile role as an exhibitor and Congress supporter at Arab Health 2012, with a range of conference speakers, a focus on oncology and a special evening symposium for delegates hosted at the Hospital, highlighting the new advanced radiotherapy for cancer patients, which the Hospital launched in December 2011. The Hospital is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary as a pioneer in private healthcare and is also rolling out its latest expansion - a new bed tower which will add 240 beds to the Dubai medical campus (total 384 beds on campus).
Senior physicians and management from the American Hospital Dubai are involved in 11 conferences at the Arab Health Congress - the world's largest CME accredited multi-track medical congress, accredited by the Cleveland Clinic - as moderators and speakers at conference sessions. In addition, Dr. Omar Hallak is the Chairman of the Interventional Cardiovascular Conference;
At the exhibition, the Hospital - celebrating 15 years of pioneering private healthcare in the region - will focus on Oncology and its new advanced radiotherapy unit. The American Hospital Dubai launched its new Radiation Therapy (RT) unit at the Cancer Care Center at the Dubai campus, with a team of six specialist staff. Based on the most advanced RT technology available (Varian's RapidArc® linear accelerator), the new radiation oncology service is designed for patients requiring curative and palliative radiotherapy as part of their cancer treatment.RapidArc® radiotherapy technology is a major advance that improves radiation dose conformity while significantly shortening treatment times, delivering complex treatments in less than 2 minutes and with increased precision. RapidArc affectively targets cancerous tumors and protects critical areas of the body, and so delivers better results for patients.
Highlighting the new RT unit, the American Hospital Dubai will host an evening symposium at the Hospital in conjunction with Varian Medical Systems, during Arab Health 2012 (Monday January 23rd, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm).
Dr. Salim Chaib Rassou, Radiation Oncologist at the American Hospital Dubai, commented: "RT is a fundamentally important part of the Cancer Care Center and we are delighted that we have access to the most advanced technology available as well as a team of highly experienced oncology specialists. The American Hospital Dubai can now provide comprehensive cancer care, medical imaging and treatment options, including chemotherapy and surgery in addition to radiotherapy and we are proud to be the first radiotherapy facility in the UAE to deliver radiotherapy with 'RapidArc'."
Mr Thomas Murray, CEO of the American Hospital Dubai, added: "The hospital is undergoing rapid expansion and development as we continue to expand our tertiary care capabilities and introduce advanced RT. Dubai continues to build a world class regional healthcare hub and we are committed to supporting this development. Major professional events such as Arab Health create the opportunity to show visitors the quality of this infrastructure and we look forward to welcoming delegates to the Hospital, as we celebrate 15 successful years of serving the community."
