BK Medical awarded a three-year, new technology agreement by Novation
BK Medical , a wholly owned subsidiary of Analogic Corporation (Nasdaq:ALOG), has been awarded a three-year, new technology agreement by Novation (Irving, TX), the healthcare industry's leading supply contracting company. BK Medical will supply urological and surgical ultrasound systems, related accessories, and supplies to VHA, UHC, and Provista members.
"Partnering with Novation gives BK Medical access to VHA's 1,400+ hospitals and 23,000+ non-acute-care providers nationwide and 90 percent of the nation's nonprofit academic medical centers represented by UHC," said Lars Shaw, vice president of global marketing, BK Medical. "Novation is an esteemed organization with an excellent reputation in the industry. We are pleased to enter into this agreement and to provide members served by Novation with BK Medical's expanded ultrasound applications, which feature the latest technological advancements in urology and surgery."
Novation's members will have access to BK Medical's Flex Focus™ Family of ultrasound systems, including the new Flex Focus 700 Surgical Ultrasound System, first introduced at the American College of Surgeons (ACS) annual meeting in October 2010, as well as the Flex Focus 400 and the Flex Focus 200 ultrasound systems.
The Flex Focus 700 is a premium performance ultrasound system tailored to the specific needs of the surgical suite. Its size, mobility, power, and customizable user interface are all designed for the operating room based on direct input from surgeons. The extremely user-friendly system can be controlled using the large touch screen, the cordless remote control panel, or the touch control panel. The system's high-resolution 19-inch monitor displays sharp laparoscopic, intraoperative, and percutaneous images with detail that is visible from virtually any angle. The Flex Focus 700 ultrasound systems are configurable with BK Medical's new Power Pack option, a full back-up power solution that provides cordless imaging for up to four hours. In addition, the 700 is small, lightweight, and supports a wide range of sterilizable transducers including the company's revolutionary, 360-degree high-resolution 3-D transducer for colorectal and pelvic floor applications.
For over 30 years, BK Medical has been developing ultrasound systems specially designed for surgery, interventional radiology, and the investigation of urological disorders. BK Medical also develops and markets systems for other applications such as pelvic floor and anesthesiology.
