The cross-enterprise, virtual Roentgen Works VNA will be demonstrated in BRIT Systems ' booth 4225 at RSNA-2010

BRIT Systems ’ browser-based Roentgen Works vendor neutral archive (VNA) now supports a Health Information Exchange ( HIE ) National Health Information Network (NHIN) Gateway for patient and document discovery, document retrieval and document submission.  The company also announced new capabilities to produce and acquire Continuity of Care Records (CCRs).  The cross-enterprise, virtual Roentgen Works VNA will be demonstrated in BRIT’s booth 4225 at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America ( RSNA-2010 ) being held November 28 to December 2 in Chicago.

Roentgen Works VNA now includes a master patient index (MPI) for acquiring a patient’s data within an enterprise and/or an HIE. From either a browser or an iPad*, users have a single source for viewing all imaging studies, documents and patient CCRs, cross-enterprise. Roentgen Works VNA is designed to provide low-cost services that can be deployed via fast “cloud” implementations accessed by browsers.  It supports a pure browser-based medical image viewer for legacy PACS and DICOM archives.  It also integrates readily with EMR s.

As a virtual archive, Roentgen Works VNA extends the capabilities of legacy PACS / RIS by adding a Web browser and iPad for access to studies, reports, and CCR information cross-enterprise.  It also supports critical results reporting and ER discordance.

The NHIN is part of a broader health IT strategy of the Health and Human Services Administration that is intended to provide a secure, national and interoperable health information infrastructure.
