Company News - Barco

Barco has introduced a new wide-screen surgical display solution with full HD resolution. It's the latest addition to Barco 's MDSC line of near-patient surgical displays matching the fast evolution in high-definition endoscopic imaging.

Medical display specialist Barco is further expanding its product line of innovative display solutions for surgical imaging. At the ACS Clinical Congress, Barco introduced a new wide-screen surgical display solution with full high-definition resolution. The new 24 inch MDSC-2124 is the latest addition to Barco 's MDSC line of near-patient surgical displays matching the fast evolution in high-definition endoscopic imaging.

Barco 's 24 inch MDSC-2124 builds on the proven technology of the 19 inch MDSC-1119 display and introduces a wide-screen (16:10) LCD panel featuring full HD resolution (1920 x 1200). Thanks to this bright, high-resolution LCD panel, surgeons using high-definition endoscopy cameras are presented with stunning panoramic views and improved depth perception. Featuring broad input connectivity, the MDSC-2124 offers a versatile display solution for HD endoscopy cameras, room and boom cameras, ultrasound , PACS and patient information.

"The new MDSC-2124 has been explicitly designed towards HD endoscopy and HD imaging within the digital operating room. The display offers the fastest image transmission and the highest broadcast-quality imaging available today," says Johan Stockman, Market Director at Barco . "The MDSC-2124 delivers artifact -- and lag-free images at all times thanks to its outstanding image processing algorithms, such as motion adaptive de-interlacing and noise reduction", he adds.

To ensure excellent performance under the high ambient light conditions of the operating theater, the MDSC-2124 is fitted with the latest generation high-bright, high-contrast color LCD technology. The display's impressive color gamut and wide viewing angle give surgeons the information and the color accuracy they need to perform surgery with maximum efficiency, even when viewing the screen from an angle. Furthermore, surgical staff can select Picture-in-Picture or Picture-by-Picture views from multiple input signals, giving clinicians access to vital information from multiple sources at key moments during surgical procedures.

Barco 's MDSC-2124 has been developed to meet the most stringent patient safety and design requirements relating to medical devices used in the operating room environment. The advanced display features a sealed fanless design, which avoids the spread of contaminants in the sterile field. The MDSC-2124 also includes a low-voltage, external DC power supply that can easily be routed through a boom structure up to 100 feet away from the display. The thin monitor with elegant cable cover takes up a minimum of space in the OR's equipment-intensive environment. Its low weight and VESA compatibility make it easy to handle and mount onto a cart or boom.
