Rush University Medical Center Selects Barco Displays to Enhance Healthcare Imaging
| Company News - Barco |
Barco announced the installation of nearly 100 MDRC-2120 clinical review displays and Coronis Fusion 6MP DL large-screen diagnostic displays at Rush University Medical Center
The Barco Coronis Fusion 6MP DL is a seamless 30-inch diagnostic color display system, enabling radiologists to display grayscale, color-enhanced and fused images side-by-side on a single screen. Its outstanding color richness, brightness and contrast, in addition to its superior resolution, make it an ideal visualizing system for a wide variety of medical modalities, including high-resolution PACS, CT, MRI, chest radiography, echo cardiogram, color ultrasound, CAD, color Doppler, and PET-CT Fusion.
“The seamless 'Fusion' configuration of the Coronis Fusion 6MP DL displays, in combination with the exceptionally wide viewing angle, allows us to have three to four students, residents or radiologists reviewing images simultaneously. This is especially advantageous in a teaching hospital setting,” explained Dr. Miral Jhaveri, Assistant Professor and Director of Informatics in the Neuroradiology department at Rush.
Another great plus of the multi-modality display system is that it removes a second, time-consuming step in the review process. “In the past with CT/MR perfusion studies, we would need to shift from the gray scale PACS monitors to a color-enhanced system in order to view the patient images, interrupting our workflow and slowing down the image review process. Now, with the Coronis 6 MP, we can read the entire study on one screen without interruption,” continued Dr. Jhaveri. As a result, Rush radiologists have been able to process more cases, vastly improving productivity in the radiology department.
Rush also purchased several dozen MDRC-2120 clinical review displays, Barco 's workhorse for hospital-wide viewing of clinical images and data. The versatile MDRC-2120s are deployed in ultrasound stations throughout the hospital, and have immediately realized a significant increase in satisfaction as a result of greater image accuracy and precision. “Maintaining a correct aspect ratio is critical in ultrasonography to produce the most realistic images for ensuring an accurate analysis,” said Kiley Rodgers, Senior Technical Architect of Digital Imaging Systems and Voice Recognition Information Services for Rush. “The Barco displays clearly provide a distinct advantage over other products on the market which tend to distort images,” continued Rodgers.
Kurt De Young, Barco's Director of Sales for Medical Imaging in North America, explains the company's commitment to providing high-quality solutions for every level of the market: “From high-end diagnostic imaging displays to medical-grade clinical displays, we provide the entire suite of products to fulfill an institution's radiological display requirements. Our comprehensive approach to the market is a great benefit to our customers, who can come to Barco for all their medical imaging display needs.”
