Beacon Partners Asks Healthcare Executives to Cast Their Opinion About the Economic Stimulus at HIMSS 2009 Beacon Partners will conduct an Opinion Poll during HIMSS 2009 how healthcare executives really feel about the economic stimulus package and what it means to the healthcare industry on April 4-8, McCormick Place in Chicago in booth #4416.

“There is still a lot of uncertainty about the intricacies of the incentive funds and surrounding issues of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA),” says Ralph P. Fargnoli, Jr., president and CEO of Beacon Partners. “Our goal with the opinion poll is to better understand the views of the economic stimulus package by healthcare executives, which should be a strong indication of where the healthcare IT industry as a whole stands. There is no more highly qualified audience to poll.”

HIMSS attendees will be asked to take a very brief electronic survey consisting of five yes/no questions:

• $20B from the economic stimulus package is dedicated to healthcare IT – is it enough?

• Do you believe that distributing the funds via Medicare reimbursements is the best way to incent IT adoption?

• Will the funding of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT) finally drive vendors into an era of cooperation toward interoperable solutions for EHR?

• Do you think most healthcare organizations will be able to implement and become "meaningful users" of certified EHR systems by 2011 in time to qualify for the incentives?

• Do you believe the entire stimulus package will have a positive impact on the U.S. Economy?

All participants in the Beacon Partners Economic Stimulus Opinion Poll will be eligible to win one of three iPod® Touches.

Real time results of the poll will be displayed on monitors in Beacon Partners’ Booth during HIMSS. Final results will be made available right after the conclusion of HIMSS.
