BCA's PEARL Selected by Dallas, TX Hospital District
Business Computer Applications, Inc. (BCA) was recently awarded a contract with Dallas County Hospital District d/b/a Parkland Health and Hospital System, Community Oriented Primary Care and Jail Health division, to upgrade the jail Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, from Emerald EMR to the state-of-the-art EMR system, PEARL EMR. The contract calls for BCA to provide application software as well as interfaces, customizations and support services.
Milton Patton, BCA’s Regional Director of Sales, said: “This project, when completed, will help Parkland Hospital to better manage its cost and improve its process of delivering quality healthcare to the Dallas County inmate population, by taking advantage of the improved functionalities and capabilities of PEARL EMR.”
The current Parkland Hospital EMR Emerald is a previous version of PEARL EMR. PEARL EMR will be integrated with the CIPS and Talyst Pharmacy Management System, LabCore Laboratory Management System, and the Texas Mental Health Registry. A complete evaluation of existing processes will take place in order to take full advantage of PEARL EMR. The expected completion date of this project is October 2009.
