Canon Europe announced the introduction of four new Direct Digital Radiography Detectors at ECR 2009

Canon Europe announced the introduction of four new Direct Digital Radiography Detectors at ECR 2009 in Vienna, Austria. These new detectors further strengthen the highly successful Canon CXDI DR systems portfolio.

In 2008 Canon Europe introduced the CXDI-60G, the world’s most compact portable direct digital detector with an imaging area of 23x28 cm. At ECR 2009 in Vienna, Canon will introduce the CXDI-60C which has the same imaging area but a higher sensitivity caesium iodide scintillator for further patient dose reduction. The CXDI-60C is a significant step forward in portable low dose direct digital radiography and will be especially beneficial in paediatric and neo-natal applications.

Canon Europe will also introduce the CXDI-55G and CXDI-55C portable 35x43 cm digital radiography detectors. These new detectors will weigh a mere 3.4 kg, lighter and thinner than the current models. Like the CXDI-60C, the new detectors will have a detachable cable, increasing portability, when working in challenging situations such as trauma radiography.

ECR 2009 will also be the European showcase for Canon’s unique portable Dynamic DR system, the world’s first to incorporate both a fluoroscopic and radiographic image capture capability in a compact, portable device. This unique system enables a variety of advanced imaging applications in a single general X-ray room, maximizing its full potential and its return on investment. ECR 2009 will be the first European event to see this system in action.
