Canvys Develops DICOM 3.14 Calibrated Laptop and Read Station
| Company News - Canvys |

Improving efficiency and productivity with mobile workstations targeted at healthcare professionals.
The 15- and 17-inch HP mobile workstations are ideal for both clinical and diagnostic review of medical images. Radiologists, doctors, and clinicians now have available to them the benefits of a mobile workstation without the performance limitations of typical laptop displays. This provides unprecedented mobile access to diagnostic quality images.
Canvys has integrated into the mobile workstation its proprietary Image Systems CFS™ calibration software, which establishes the DICOM® 3.14 compliance and assures image consistency and accuracy. The 15-inch HP EliteBook 8540w and the 17-inch HP EliteBook 8740w mobile workstations feature the HP DreamColor LED-backlit display technology for enhanced brightness, resolution, color depth, and viewing angle. An Intel i7™ processor and NVIDIA Quadro® FX Series graphics engine provide workstation-level power in a rugged and mobile magnesium alloy chassis.
“Laptop and tablet displays typically use LCDs that are not very bright, have limited pixel bit depth, utilize cheaper TN (twisted nematic) technology, and have viewing angle issues such that gray shades can change when you move your head or tilt the display. It is unacceptable if you are reviewing the subtle details of a medical image. The HP DreamColor display technology combined with the NVIDIA graphics engine provides the best performance available in a mobile form-factor. By embedding our CFS™ software and calibrating it to DICOM 3.14 standards, you have more consistent and accurate images and you are able to see the low contrast shades of gray that otherwise may not be seen,” says David Sorensen, Director of Healthcare Operations at Canvys.
The power of these mobile workstations can also be used to connect to external displays, either directly utilizing DisplayPort or through the use of a docking station, to create a multi-display read station for the home, office, or healthcare facility. Canvys will also be demonstrating HP EliteBook Mobile Workstations connected to Image Systems 2MP and 3MP medical-grade, high bright color displays in portrait mode; all of the displays will be DICOM 3.14 calibrated with CFS calibration software.
