Fremantle Hospital Purchases CARESTREAM DRX-1 Systems

Company News - Carestream Health, Inc.

Fremantle Hospital purchased Carestream Health 's six DRX-1 Systems for major acute-care teaching hospital.

Fremantle Hospital in Perth, Western Australia has installed six CARESTREAM DRX-1 Systems in general x-ray rooms across its radiology and emergency departments. The 450 bed hospital was one of the first to order the innovative DRX-1 System from Carestream Health , Inc.

“The DRX-1 System is very attractive, particularly in our emergency department, as it is the only system available that allows the examination of patients in wheel chairs, beds and trolleys. We are already seeing dramatic improvements in our workflow with a total average examination time reduction of up to 40%,” said Greg Scott, Chief Medical Imaging Technologist, Fremantle Hospital & Health Service. “On our current CR system we have demonstrated an exposure reduction of 30% for bucky exams and a 50% reduction for extremities.”

The DRX-1 system incorporates a console and a wireless, cassette-sized DR detector that provides a rapid, affordable conversion for users of radiographic film or computed radiography systems. “The cost savings of purchasing [or retaining your existing] conventional analogue general room with the addition of the DRX-1 System to make it a comprehensive DR facility was significant,” added Scott. It requires no modifications to existing analog equipment—which results in very low installation costs—and a healthcare facility can utilise one detector for many types of exams.

The DRX-1 system incorporates the same innovative software and image processing capability as Carestream Health’s CR and DR systems, and delivers the same excellent image quality and productivity as these proven platforms. “Excluding big ticket items of CT and MRI, the Fremantle Hospital purchases six CARESTREAM DRX-1 Systems for major acute-care teaching hospital/Page 2
