Intermountain Healthcare, Carestream Health Announce New Contract for DRX-1-Based Imaging Systems
| Company News - Carestream Health, Inc. |
Intermountain Healthcare signed an agreement to implement CARESTREAM DRX-1 Systems and CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kits from Carestream Health
Intermountain Healthcare of Salt Lake City, Utah, signed an agreement to implement CARESTREAM DRX-1 Systems and CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kits from Carestream Health. These new systems will allow Intermountain to convert existing computed radiography and film-based imaging systems to direct digital image capture.
This new technology will enhance workflow and increase productivity in the radiology departments of Intermountain facilities. The retrofit kit will enable Intermountain to allow existing mobile x-ray systems to deliver immediate digital capture using DRX-1 detectors. This conversion will allow surgeons and other clinicians in the OR, ED, and ICU areas to review images within seconds, which can help improve patient care.
Use of DRX-based systems will also equip Intermountain to utilize existing room-based and portable imaging systems, which extends the useful life of these assets and reduces capital equipment replacement costs.
With the economic downturn and pending healthcare reform, the CARESTREAM DRX-1 could not have come at a better time, according to Gregg Stout, Intermountain’s manager of imaging systems. “Implementing digital technology within two rooms, and upgrading two of our portable units at Dixie Regional Medical Center has positively impacted our department both from an economic and efficiency standpoint,” Stout said
“The wireless portable DR units have created greater productivity and satisfaction for both technologists and ordering physicians. Being able to have imaging information immediately available is significant. Access to patient worklists and transmittal of imaging studies to PACS is completely seamless and transparent,” he added.
“Our innovative and affordable products based on the DRX-1 detector make it possible to provide digital radiography in a scalable fashion that helps improve productivity and patient care while simultaneously containing costs,” said Connie Pettijohn, Carestream Health ’s Vice President, Corporate & Government Healthcare.
