Pennsylvania Hospital Purchases Carestream DRX Family

Company News - Carestream Health, Inc.

Memorial Hospital of York, Pennsylvania purchased Carestream Health ’s CARESTREAM DRX-1 System, the CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution and the CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kit.

Memorial Hospital of York, Penn., purchased all three products in Carestream Health ’s innovative portfolio of imaging systems based on its wireless, cassette-size DRX-1 detector: the CARESTREAM DRX-1 System, the CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution and the CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kit. For added flexibility and cost efficiency, the lightweight, removable detectors used in a room-based system can be deployed in the mobile system as well. These systems deliver exceptional staff productivity and help enhance patient care, while simultaneously equipping facilities to reduce equipment expenses.

The hospital purchased a CARESTREAM DRX-1 System, which converts an existing x-ray room to efficient wireless DR in less than a day. The detector fits into Buckys to allow efficient use of existing x-ray systems. Use of DRX-1 detectors improves staff productivity and patient comfort by eliminating cables and tethers typically required by most DR-based systems.

Memorial Hospital also ordered a dual-detector CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution. This integrated, automated DR suite delivers enhanced versatility due to the unmatched positioning flexibility offered by the DRX-1 detectors. Since Memorial Hospital has purchased two detectors, one will be placed in the wall stand and the other in the table. Either detector can be removed to perform tabletop extremity exams and other complex exams.

The hospital also ordered a CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kit that will allow it to upgrade its GE AMX-4 mobile x-ray system to wireless DRX-1 technology. The hospital plans to use a detector from its DRX-Evolution system for portable exams.

With the wireless DRX-1 detector, on-site productivity for mobile systems is improved and clinicians gain immediate access to images captured at the point of care. This enhances the quality and immediacy of treatment, especially for critically ill patients in emergency rooms, operating rooms and the ICU. Leveraging the detectors in multiple imaging systems yields a faster return on investment and extends the benefits of digital radiography to these additional applications as well.

The DRX-1 System and DRX-Evolution System are currently available. Carestream Health is taking orders for its DRX-Mobile Retrofit kit in countries where it has regulatory approval. The system will be available in
May.
