CoActiv Delivers PACS Your Way at RSNA 2010

CoActiv Medical (Booth # 9100) announces a range of innovative new features for its web-based EXAM-PACS , solidifying its position as the most advanced, user friendly and cost-effective solution on the market today.

CoActiv Medical is committed to continually fine-tuning the EXAM-PACS feature list to meet the complete range of our users’ needs,” says Ed Heere, president and CEO of CoActiv.  “One of the major purposes of a PACS is to streamline workflow of everyone involved in radiology.  This year, at RSNA , we are showcasing some of the new features most requested by customers themselves.”

New this year is an innovative, convenient reception-desk scanning module, SCAN2PACS™, which enables an imaging facility to instantly digitize a patient's hardcopy information at check-in.  All the information a patient brings with them to an appointment, including prescriptions, authorizations, insurance pre-certifications or insurance cards, can be immediately scanned, digitized and attached permanently to the patient file.  This helps to significantly streamline workflow even before the procedure is performed, now making this information available to the technologists, radiologists and administrative staff.  SCAN2PACS also supports easy and convenient scanning of ultrasound worksheets, mammography worksheets and more during and after the procedure and provides easy transitioning to a true paperless environment. Included with this new scanning module is the ability for the facility to choose the way the scanned documents are both stored and viewed in EXAM-PACS.   Currently, scanned documents are stored as "attached files" which are instantly visible in both the CoActiv EXAM-Console WorkList and in the CoActiv EXAM-Viewer.  However, for the first time, the scanned documents can now be stored as a new DICOM series in the exam itself and would be available to be viewed with any DICOM viewer.  Also for the first time, an imaging facility can actually choose not only by which method the scanned documents are stored and viewed, but to store and view documents both as attached files and as an added DICOM series, giving the facility the ultimate in flexible workflow options.

Also being introduced is another new module, EXAM-Dictate™, that directly integrates Dragon voice recognition into EXAM-PACS and automatically attaches final reports to an exam once dictation is completed. With a full range of customizable templates and virtually an unlimited ability to create pre-templated normal reports, this new module supports fast and accurate report creation and optionally has the ability to send reports to other systems.

As another major introduction, CoActiv announces a new and affordable added archiving configuration that stores 100% of priors, as well as new exams going forward, onsite, where they can be easily and instantly accessed.  This new configuration complements their popular, cloud-based, vendor-neutral EXAM-VAULT® QUAD-REDUNDANT ARCHIVING® which provides multiple levels of off-site redundancy and guarantees business continuity.  This new configuration, coupled with CoActiv's existing EXAM-Fetch™ technology, can instantly auto-send relevant priors directly to a specific workstation, or even to multiple workstations, with the arrival of a new exam.

CoActiv Medical believes that imaging sites should have storage options that enable ultra-fast image retrieval and workflow in whatever way they prefer,” says Heere.  “ PACS users should never have to alter their clinical or business procedures or workflow because their PACS cannot support them.  EXAM-PACS is designed for flexibility from the ground up and with every user’s needs in mind.”
