CoActiv Medical Announces EXAM-BROWSER Validation for the Kindle Fire

Company News - CoActiv Medical
coactive medicalCoActiv Medical announces validation of its EXAM-BROWSER® universal image viewer on the new Kindle Fire.

CoActiv Medical announces validation of its EXAM-BROWSER® universal image viewer on the new Kindle Fire, enabling anywhere, anytime viewing of all 2D, MPR, and 3D exams with multi-user real-time collaboration on this important new pocket-sized WiFi-enabled tablet.  EXAM-BROWSER is CoActiv’s revolutionary fully cloud-based, zero-footprint, clinical viewer that supports web-based viewing of medical images and reports stored on CoActiv’s EXAM-PACS®, CoActiv's Vendor Neutral  EXAM-VAULT® cloud-based archive, or on virtually any current PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System).

The Kindle Fire is a new full-featured, very portable tablet from Amazon and features a bright, multi-touch 7-inch color display with a 1024x600 pixel high-resolution, 169 ppi display and a precedent-setting low purchase price of under $200.  ;CoActiv will demonstrate EXAM-BROWSER on the new Kindle at its booth, #7300, at the Radiological Society of North American (RSNA) conference this month. Use of the EXAM-BROWSER on the new Kindle Fire will enable referring physicians or attending physicians to instantly review patient radiology, cardiology, orthopedic and other medical images while anywhere in a hospital, their medical office, at home, or virtually anywhere there is an available WiFi connection... including many airline flights.

“With this new innovation, CoActiv maintains its commitment to technological innovation and responsiveness to the demands of the medical imaging and information marketplace,” according to Ed Heere, CoActiv president and CEO.  “This new device promises to attract a large number of users quickly due to its high-quality screen, easy portability and low cost, and we are the first PACS company to announce complete compatibility with it.”

CoActiv was also among the first PACS companies to support a full range of today’s existing mobile devices, including the iPhone, iPad, and all Android and other tablets and smartphones.

CoActiv is distinguished by a full range of firsts, including its support for innovative modalities such as breast tomosynthesis and breast specific gamma imaging and archival storage of non-DICOM data such as prescriptions and reports.  The company also is the innovator of Quad-Redundant Archiving®, which stores data in four geographically dispersed location and has ranked as the world’s first completely cloud-based medical imaging storage solution since its introduction in 2003.
