Company’s Medical Clients Enjoy Full Service and Medical Image Access Throughout Hurricane Irene
In spite of a four day loss of electric power, telephone and Internet service at its hurricane Irene-devastated Ridgefield, CT headquarters, CoActiv Medical maintained full service to its national PACS ( picture archiving and communication system ) medical facility clients throughout the storm, continuing its seven-year 100% up-time service record.
"When we left our Ridgefield offices on the Friday before the hurricane, we forwarded all of our phone lines to our night and weekend answering service, which contacts our national network of on-call PACS and IT engineers for our 7x24x365 support,” said Ed Heere, President and CEO. The company’s headquarters on Ethan Allen Highway lost all utility services and almost flooded at 4:00 am on Sunday as Irene blasted through the area. Ridgefield and neighboring Redding, CT, two towns where some company employees reside, lost all electric power, telephone and Internet service, and local electric supplier Connecticut Light & Power estimates that full service may not be restored until as late as September 8.
However, because CoActiv's EXAM-VAULT® Archive datacenters, which support its vital healthcare services, are located in hardened, cloud-based, remote Tier-IV centers in Connecticut and New York, CoActiv client hospitals and medical offices in the hurricane-devastated region--and throughout the country--enjoyed complete service throughout the extended outages. CoActiv engineers and support personnel worked from remote commercial and residential locations, and the company’s nationwide customers were unaware that CoActiv headquarters were closed with full utilities outages due to the storm.
CoActiv provides PACS medical imaging software and services for hospitals and imaging centers throughout the U.S. and select international locations. CoActiv also archives billions of medical radiological images in its remote cloud-based HIPAA-compliant archive centers for its many clients. A major PACS and medical image archive provider, CoActiv has enjoyed a 100% up-time record at all client installations since its first hospital site went live more than seven years ago.CoActiv is committed to providing a high level of service to maintain this record, even in the face of Hurricane Irene’s devastation in Connecticut. CoActiv claims that this record, unparalleled in the industry, is due to its uncompromising system redundancies and dedicated professional staff.
