RSNA 2009 : CoActiv EXAM-PACS Adds a Wealth of New Features and Value

Company News - CoActiv Medical

CoActiv Medical showcases an exciting range of enhancements to its popular EXAM-PACS Web-based PACS at the annual meeting of Radiological Society of North America.

From a powerful iPhone exam viewing system and instant voice report creation to a host of stepped up workflow and display features, CoActiv Medical (Booth 7544) showcases an exciting range of enhancements to its popular EXAM-PACS Web-based PACS at RSNA 2009. Individually, new innovations help imaging specialists keep pace with the rapidly evolving demands of healthcare today. Collectively, they make CoActiv Medical EXAM-PACS one of the most advanced, fullfeatured solutions on the market, delivering outstanding value at an extremely affordable price.

At RSNA 2009, CoActiv Medical debuts an EXAM-PACS platform for every preference. Now radiologists and other authorized users can view exams quickly and easily on the popular Apple touch-screen mobile device with EXAM-PACS for iPhone. Also supported is EXAM-PACS running on Windows 7, and on Mac OS X with both the current free version of the OsiriX DICOM Viewer and the new FDA cleared OsiriX viewer.

Also introduced this year is a fully integrated Instant voice recognition and Reporting feature. As radiologists launch the EXAM-PACS exam viewer, the new feature simultaneously opens a separate dictation window to enable immediate report dictation and voice-to-text translation using most popular voice recognition systems. Reports are automatically attached to exams and archived. They may be viewed, printed and transmitted along with images to referring physicians and imported into electronic medical record ( EMR ) systems.

This year, Spine Labeling gets a boost with cross-sectional axial reference labels that automatically appear as a coronal or sagittal series are labeled.

For today’s productivity-driven radiology environment, CoActiv Medical debuts a range of important efficiency features. They include new Unlimited Custom Worklist Filtering by a full range of criteria, from modality, exam description and read-status to site-of-origin and referring physician. Worklists may be filtered by single or multiple criteria simultaneously. Additionally, with EXAM-3D Auto Launch, CoActiv Medical 's built-in 3D application will now launch simultaneously on a separate display, enabling normal workflow to continue uninterrupted while providing instant 3D visualizations. Finally, a new Auto Fetching/Routing feature will identify and transmit all relevant prior exams from the EXAMPACS archive to the diagnostic workstation as new exams are loaded for reading.

Convenient EXAM-PACS viewing features being introduced include Auto-Merge, which consolidates all individual series in an exam into a single comprehensive series for the fastest possible viewing convenience. New Split-Screen Viewing optionally displays both the user worklist and image viewer on a single screen, especially desirable on the affordable horizontal widescreen displays that are often used in referring physician offices, doctors’ homes and other settings.

As the medical imaging workflow beyond radiology becomes the norm, CoActiv Medical debuts Enhanced Viewing for Cardiology with nuclear cardiology and echocardiology exams displayed with full motion on local workstations throughout the enterprise and beyond. Cardiac Catheterization also now has similar functionality. Additionally, Fuji ProSolv Cardiovascular reporting system also can now have Bidirectional Integration with EXAM-PACS.

To make EXAM-PACS a fully integrated enterprise-wide image management system, CoActiv Medical introduces at RSNA 2009 the EXAM-RIS family of solutions fine-tuned to meet the needs of a full range of imaging sites with advanced technology at extremely affordable prices. Solutions include EXAM-RIS Essentials for single imaging sites, EXAM-RIS Enterprise for large enterprises and EXAM-TELRIS with special features for teleradiologists. Each integrates seamlessly with the CoActiv family of EXAM-PACS solutions.

“These and other exciting upgrades help make EXAM-PACS one of the most functional and affordable enterprise-class PACS Solutions available today,” comments Ed Heere, President and CEO of CoActiv Medical. “CoActiv has enjoyed tremendous expansion in sales during 2009 when many other vendors’ sales are shrinking. Our formula for success is simple—understand the needs of the marketplace, and meet them with high-quality products, backed by strong customer service and the most affordable prices.”
