SportsMedicine Partners Orthopedics prefers EXAM-PACS

SportsMedicine Partners Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Therapy has selected CoActiv EXAM-PACS to support the acquisition, analysis, distribution and archiving of its imaging studies

SportsMedicine Partners Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Therapy, P.C., a new orthopedic center in Glastonbury , CT, has selected CoActiv EXAM-PACS to support the acquisition, analysis, distribution and archiving of its imaging studies. The practice selected EXAM-PACS for its advanced features and ease of operation at an affordable price point. “Accessing prior studies in digital format is much faster than in hard copy, and radiologists really benefit from being able to manipulate images on a workstation,” said Angela Lent, RT(R), clinical supervisor and technologist for   SportsMedicine Partners.

“Digital storage also saves us significant space over hard copy filing a big benefit because space is always at a premium. Locating a prior study is much faster with digital images than film. Everyone likes the system.” According to Lent, CoActiv ’s automated EXAM-FILER CD burning solution delivers important benefits for the practice. “Now, instead of duplicating films, we provide images on CDs for referring physicians and hospitals, especially for use in the operating room,” she said, “With CD duplication, we keep the originals on file and need not track the image when it leaves the office or worry about loss.”

The CoActiv EXAM-FILER system can receive studies from multiple DICOM modalities, has robotic capabilities and can be easily integrated with existing PACS solutions. The resulting exam CDs contain a DICOM-compliant viewer and are self-booting with no software installation on the user’s PC. The images are compatible with any CD- or DVD-equipped PC. As a marketing feature, a color label is automatically created for each EXAM-CD that prominently highlights the imaging facility’s contact information. She notes that the CoActiv team was able to educate the practice on how to use the system and have everything up and running quickly. “If we ever have a question, they are extremely responsive. The CoActiv team has been a pleasure to deal with,” she said.
