Compressus Releases MEDxConnect Upgrades; RSNA 2009
| Company News - Compressus, Inc. |
Compressus features productivity enhancements based on radiology workflow that encompasses the entire medical message not simply moving images at the RSNA 2009
Compressus released new productivity upgrades for the MEDxConnect System, here at the 95th Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America ( RSNA 2009 ), Nov. 29 - Dec. 4, 2009. The release from Compressus, leaders in interoperability of disparate healthcare IT systems, features high performance features designed to meet the requirements of an entire virtualized radiology environment.
"Achieving true radiology workflow is more than simply moving images - that problem was largely solved with DICOM and other industry standards," said Janine Broda, chief marketing officer for Compressus. "Interoperability is based on the ability to read, process, and deliver the entire medical message to the right destination at the right time. The new productivity enhancements to MEDxConnect are focused on delivering on the promise of Enterprise wide medical message analysis and routing."
New MEDxConnect capabilities are designed to enhance the productivity of Medical Message Mediator (M3), which enables complex cross reading environments, addressing all workflows, disparate IT systems and databases. According to Broda, "The M3 continues to encompass the complexity of the imaging market in an automated manner, striving to make it simple for the end user. Compressus handles the unique workflow challenges for the customer. Our goal is to make it look easy and seamless."
With a customizable user interface, the new Work Tool Design of the Virtual Worklist (VW3) provides unique filtering capabilities with configurable components driven via an easy to create wizard. A centralized location to access and configure new features in the latest release, the VW3 is designed to optimize patient location, worklist selection by facility, modality, status, or groups, and the custom workflow requirements of each facility.
The new release also features enhancements to MEDxConnect Catalyst components. This includes the new SM2, or Speech Mediator Module, with full integration to PowerScribe and other types of voice files to provide multiple data base transcription capabilities for disparate editor entities. The capability for all reports, including those that require editing, to be attended to by the appropriate editors, solves a major interoperability issue and removes a significant barrier to being able to read studies anywhere. The Voice Mediator Module (VM2), the voice dictation module based on Dragon speech engine, is one of the options for reporting available to MEDxConnect users. The new deliverables include enhancements to template capability, short cuts, voice commands, and web updates of voice files, delivering improved productivity.
Enhanced document scanning capabilities with the DM2 optimizes user efficiency and reliability when entering non-electronic documents. These features include image thumbnails, the ability to auto-assign attach to studies and delete capability. Additionally, the CM2, or Communicator Mediator Module, empowers MEDxConnect's unique worklist to integrate to third party PACS viewers and other applications through either unilateral or bi-directional messages. The system also has the ability to address proprietary PACS features that inhibit the sharing of documents, such as key images, annotations and hot notes.
The MEDxConnect System acts as a communications hub, enabling various PACS, HIS, RIS and other data information systems to connect and communicate across the Enterprise. Utilizing HL7, DICOM, and other standards, the System helps control the flow of images, reports, messages, standard patient demographics and other important data for diagnosis and treatment planning of a patient between otherwise independent and disparate systems. The integrated imaging and data management solution from Compressus is designed to support a facility's current and expanded workload and provide an infrastructure for sustained growth. Building the functionality required for remote connectivity, the system enables users to access diagnostic images and reports in the existing data stores at each facility, increasing the level of medical care while reducing the associated costs.
