HIT Leaders to Convene for NCHICA 16th Annual Conference

NCHICA, a nonprofit consortium dedicated to improving health and care in North Carolina through information technology, will hold its 16th Annual Conference and Exhibition at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC.
The North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance, Inc. (NCHICA), a nonprofit consortium dedicated to improving health and care in North Carolina through information technology, will hold its 16th Annual Conference and Exhibition at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC on September 13-14, 2010. The conference provides attendees with an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest developments and best practices in healthcare IT and network with peers from the healthcare IT community.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Transforming Healthcare Through Meaningful Use ” and the agenda is packed with over 40 speakers and 18 breakout sessions on clinical and technology topics.
The keynote speaker on September 13 is Dr. Doug Fridsma, the Acting Director of the Office of Interoperability and Standards at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC). He will discuss the ONC initiatives related to the Nationwide Health Information Network, the impact of ARRA HITECH funding, the current status of health information exchange, and how they will impact North Carolina, the Southeast and the nation.
On September 14, Lanier Cansler, Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, will highlight a panel of State leaders who will discuss “Moving North Carolina to Meaningful Use.” Topics will include the NC HIE Board, the State’s Operational Plan for HIE and the Regional Extension Center.
On September 15 there will be post-conference workshops on HITECH Breach Notification, HIPAA Privacy and Security Compliance, ICD-10, and Implementing Meaningful Use .
