Putting It All Together…Meaningful Use and EHRs…at CHEST 2009
| Medical Conferences News - Conference News |
The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the American College of Chest Physicians collaborate to offer Health IT Showcase at CHEST 2009.
Providing valuable guidance on meaningful use and incentive funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, HIMSS and ACCP once again join forces to sponsor the Health IT Showcase at CHEST 2009, the 75th annual international scientific assembly of the ACCP. Located at booth #1519, the Showcase is open during the conference on Nov. 2-4 at the San Diego Convention Center.
The thousands of chest physicians at the conference can learn how to transform their practice with electronic health records, technology that can improve quality and patient care. At the Health IT Showcase, physician attendees also can join hands-on product demonstrations with the latest technology innovations to:
- Gain practical knowledge regarding EHR adoption and implementation; and
- Explore EHR applications relevant to common chest medicine cases
“As the President of the ACCP, I am pleased to welcome HIMSS and their health IT technology solutions partners to our most important meeting of the year,” said James A. L. Mathers, Jr., MD, FCCP, ACCP President. “My goal is to offer our members healthcare information technology that not only helps reduce healthcare costs but, more importantly, also will improve the quality of patient care.”
As part of this interactive exhibit area, Greenway Medical Systems and Glenwood Systems will be at the Showcase to help physicians evaluate their technology solution needs and answer questions about EHR adoption and implementation. During the three-day Health IT Showcase, physicians also can attend 19 different education sessions at the Showcase Theatre.
Topics at the theatre include EHR implementation, computerized provider order entry, meaningful use, ICD-10, healthcare reform and federal health IT policy, and ARRA funding incentives. A complete listing of the program times, topics and speakers is available at the booth.
“I am pleased that, once again, HIMSS and the American College of Chest Physicians have aligned to bring physicians the ACCP/HIMSS Health IT Showcase at CHEST 2009,” said James Sorace, MD, MS, Chair, HIMSS Ambulatory Care Steering Committee and Senior Medical Officer Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation Science and Data Policy, Department of Health and Human Services. “Physicians visiting the Showcase can learn more about the benefits of the electronic health record and its benefits for improved quality and patient care.”
