DR Systems RIS/PACS Goes ‘Live’ at California Sites
| Company News - DR Systems, Inc. |
HealthCare Partners Medical Group Serves More Than 750,000 Patients in Southern California
DR Systems , one of the most respected names in healthcare information systems, announced that its Unity RIS/PACS is now in use at HealthCare Partners Medical Group (HCP).
The contract for installation and maintenance of the full-featured Unity RIS/PACS in HCP’s Region 3 is worth more than $1,000,000. The system will serve as the hub of a RIS/PACS network that will eventually encompass all five of HCP’s regions.
DR Systems will equip HCP’s other four regions into their RIS / PACS network over the next two years.
“This contract represents a significant implementation of new technologies and workflow innovations,” said Rick Porritt, DR Systems ’ President and CEO. “We’re also grateful to Merry X-Ray for their role in facilitating the process.”
“Because of HCP’s unique requirements, we felt DR Systems had exactly the right solutions to meet HCP’s needs,” said Larry Lawson, President of Merry X-Ray, a long time supplier of X-Ray imaging needs to HCP.
The Unity RIS , PACS, Reporting and Mammography modules ordered by HCP include Zero Download Scheduler (Web-based ordering/scheduling) and patient registration, image acquisition, radiologist diagnostic reading with a full reporting suite and Web-based Ambassador clinical review. Automatic importing of scheduling data from HCP’s referring physician offices will facilitate appointment ordering, scheduling, confirmation and exam results review.
HCP will use DR Systems ' Instant Reporter reporting module with speech recognition for automated dictation, transcription, printing, faxing, report storage, and Web distribution.
As part of the contract, HCP is acquiring a virtualized server infrastructure from DR Systems. Virtualization will enable HCP to reduce the number of dedicated application servers to lower hardware and operating costs, and service interruptions. DR Systems ’ virtualization offerings utilize award-winning technology from VMware (Palo Alto, Calif.).
Another feature of DR Systems' Unity enterprise imaging solution is the unified RIS/PACS worklist. This allows reading physicians to access multiple image repositories from a single DR Systems Unity workstation utilizing a single automated, unified worklist.
The HCP RIS/PACS also includes DR Systems Unity Women’s Health Imaging module for mammography. Implementation involves data migration from HCP's legacy RIS to the Unity RIS/PACS. The system will be running on HCP's high-speed wide area network (WAN) and integrated with EMC’s enterprise NAS (Network Attached Storage), which serves all of the healthcare network's regions.
HCP serves more than 750,000 patients in southern California's Los Angeles and Orange counties.
