DR Systems Unity PACS Named “Best in KLAS” Among All PACS for 2010

Company News - DR Systems, Inc.

Top ranking represents responses by Healthcare Provider Organizations, IT Executives, and department directors.

KLAS® has recognized DR Systems and its Unity™ RIS-CVIS-PACS-Reporting platform as the leading PACS vendor and product in its 2010 Top 20: Best in KLAS Awards: Software & Professional Services report. DR Systems was rated ahead of all other PACS providers including McKesson, GE Medical Systems, Siemens, Phillips, and Merge.

This is the 4th time since 2001 that DR Systems has been ranked the #1 overall PACS vendor by KLAS.  DR Systems received #1 overall PACS vendor ranking in 2001, 2006, 2007 and now 2010.  In addition, in 2007, DR Systems was ranked the #1 overall healthcare information technology vendor by KLAS.

KLAS is a prominent research and consulting firm that specializes in monitoring and reporting the performance of healthcare information technology vendors, including picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) companies. The annual KLAS award “signifies leadership in working with customers to resolve issues and match expectations to reality.”

Healthcare executives, managers, and clinicians representing more than 4,500 hospitals and 2,500 clinics contributed feedback for the KLAS report.

To earn the top ranking, DR Systems and Unity received the highest overall score among vendors/products by a significant margin. They also received the highest quality rating among the top 20 companies and PACS.

Also given a high ranking in this year’s Top 20: Best in KLAS Awards report was the DR Systems Unity Radiology Information System ( RIS ).  Noted as being well-regarded by KLAS respondents, the Unity RIS received a very high overall score and quality rating. In addition, 100% of respondents said they would buy a Unity RIS again.

“These high ratings reflect the consistent quality, value, ease-of-use, and customer service that DR Systems brings to all of its information technology (IT) products, including its RIS, Unity Cardiovascular Information System (CVIS), and Unity Mammography (digital mammography integrated with PACS ),” said Rick Porritt, DR Systems' president and CEO.

DR Systems’ top ranking from KLAS reflects some basic differences between a more focused, enterprise diagnostic imaging-centered company like ours as opposed to giant corporations like GE, McKesson, and Carestream that were ranked farther down the KLAS list,” Porritt said. “Our understanding of the needs of both CIO’s and clinicians makes us able to provide the most effective technology that is best suited to healthcare institutions' clinical requirements. At the same time, our more personalized approach enables us to better meet customers' business and IT objectives.”

The KLAS top ranking reflects responses to such questions as:
  • “Received your money’s worth”
  • “Lives up to expectations”
  • “Quality and effectiveness of implementation services”
  • “Quality and effectiveness of training”
  • “Overall product quality, including upgrades”
  • “Current product functionality meets all your needs today”
  • “Vendor executive involvement at your organization”
  • “Keeps promises” “Likely to recommend to a peer or friend”
  • Earlier this year, KLAS recognized DR Systems as the leading PACS vendor for large hospitals in its November 2010 KLAS Specialty Report: A Read on PACS: Hospital Expectations Rising.
