DR Systems to exhibit new software and advanced system capabilities at RSNA
| Company News - DR Systems, Inc. |
DR Systems will be exhibiting its Release 8.2 software for its Unity(TM) RIS/PACS platform at RSNA 2008.
Among other innovations, Release 8.2 features expanded applications on client-supplied hardware, critical results tracking, and timesaving DICOM structured reports.
The company will also be demonstrating 1) a zero-download, Web browser-based clinical review application and 2) operation of the Unity RIS/PACS in a virtualized server environment.
DR Systems, the leading independent provider of RIS/PACS solutions, will be at Booth 4209 in the South Building, Hall A from Sunday, November 30 to Thursday, December 4. RSNA 2008 will be held Nov. 30 - Dec. 5 in Chicago.
New application capabilities in Release 8.2 include:
- Critical Results: Tracks critical values and tests. Audits timeliness of reporting results to responsible caregivers.
DICOM Structured Reports: Automatically captures DICOM data such as ultrasound measurements from the modality and transfers it to the exam report, increasing the radiologist's accuracy and saving time for the technologist. - CS Series Workstations: Provides sites with the ability to use the full range of Unity RIS/PACS software features on client-supplied hardware.
- Peer Review: Evaluates prior exam reports and diagnoses completed by other physicians in the practice. Helps facilitate better quality interpretations by educating reading physicians.
- Additional Productivity Enhancements in Instant Reporter: The voice recognition capabilities in the Instant Reporter module now include the ability to access Dragon macro features plus improved speed utilizing 64-bit systems. Instant Reporter is DR Systems’ complete integrated PACS reporting solution.
- Unity access via enterprise-based and physician office EMRs (electronic medical record). Accessing through a Web browser to the EMR allows for clinical review of exam reports, images, and voice clips along with other patient information.
- Multiple Volume Support. This capability provides greater system scalability while increasing data safety, configuration flexibility, and system availability.
- Improved Sentinel Capabilities: Sentinel monitors the real-time performance of the RIS/PACS application as well as workflow activities. Among several other new capabilities, Sentinel can be used to send emails to configured customer representatives when the status of the site changes. Sentinel also now displays a list of all station IDs in use at the site.
At its RSNA booth, DR Systems will also be showing pre-visibility to future releases, demonstrating advanced system and networking capabilities. Those capabilities include:
- Unity RIS/PACS operating in a virtualized server environment. The virtualized environment offers new levels of server operation flexibility and server resource allocation.
- Zero-download “Ultra-thin client” clinical review application. Eliminating the clinical review software install simplifies Web access to reports, images, and voice clips while minimizing security and IT support issues. Runs on Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.
Release 8.2 will be available to the general RIS/PACS marketplace in the first quarter of 2009.
