M*Modal and DR Systems Partnership Integrates Speech Understanding(™) Technology with Unity(™) RIS/PACS

Company News - DR Systems, Inc.

Advanced speech recognition by M*Modal powers Instant Reporter™, expedites reporting capabilities and increases clinical documentation accuracy.

M*Modal and DR Systems announced a partnership that will result in the integration of M*Modal’s Speech Understanding™ technology with DR Systems Unity™ RIS/PACS platform. The enhanced DR Systems Instant Reporter™ module will provide flexible reporting capabilities and superior clinical documentation functions that increase productivity and cost savings for customers of the leading enterprise imaging and information management systems developer. The two companies announced the partnership in conjunction with the Radiological Society of North America ( RSNA 2010 ) meeting at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill., Nov. 28 – Dec. 2, 2010.

Instant Reporter™ offers dictation, speech recognition, transcription, printing, faxing, storage and Web distribution solutions to integrated healthcare networks, hospitals, and diagnostic imaging centers. The integration of M*Modal’s Speech Understanding™ gives radiologists speech recognition that adapts to their workflow and offers choice of self-completion of documents or editing by a transcriptionist. A host of time-saving features include voice-driven macros and templates and no requirement for voice enrollment to get started. Speech Understanding™ also creates structured, encoded data as an automatic output in addition to electronic text, enabling many actions to be triggered in the PACS system such as documentation improvement alerts, critical test result alerts and more.

“We are encouraged by this partnership with DR Systems and appreciate the confidence they’ve put in M*Modal to provide their customers with a best-in-class speech solution,” said Michael Finke, M*Modal CEO. “Through this integration we look forward to aiding in the development of technology that speaks directly to the needs of the customer and their patients.”

M*Modal is exhibiting at RSNA 2010 booth #9150 and DR Systems is at booth #3413.
