Carestream Health Showcases Advances in Radiology Solutions at ECR 2009

Medical Conferences News - ECR 2009
Carestream Health Showcases Advances in Radiology Solutions at ECR 2009 to provide added convenience, time saving and cost efficiency for clinicians and IT staff At the European Congress of Radiology Carestream Health showcased a range of innovative radiology solutions designed to provide added convenience, time saving and cost efficiency for clinicians and IT staff. Solutions on show include:

New Features for RIS/PACS:
A new generation RIS/PACS platform is showcased as a work in progress, which offers advanced tools and features to streamline the delivery of imaging services and boost productivity.  As part of its PACS platform the Company demonstrated an innovative “power viewer” that promises to speed exam interpretation and reporting for routine exams and 3D imaging studies where complex data sets need to be compared. This new capability provides automatic registration and volumetric matching of 3D studies created at different times and by different modalities directly within the viewer used by radiologists.

First-Ever SuperPACS Architecture:
This new architecture will equip healthcare providers to streamline workflow—using existing PACS resources—since it will enable the sharing of patient images and information, while also delivering a global worklist that balances exam reading among on-site and off-site radiologists. The Super PACS Architecture, currently a work in progress, will be available for order in the second quarter of 2009.

First Wireless, Cassette-sized Digital Radiography (DR) Detector:
Carestream Health is demonstrating the industry’s first wireless, cassette-sized digital radiography (DR) detector, the CARESTREAM DRX-1 System. The system can be employed in all applications where a 35 x 43 cm (14 x 17 inch) X-ray cassette would be used and easily incorporated into all types of radiology environments without modification.  Also showcased is a new generation of image processing software for its CR and DR platforms, and a new long-length imaging system for its DR 7500 System.

Tabletop Laser Imager For Mammography, General Radiography Applications:
A new tabletop, low- to mid-volume laser imager is announced that will provide healthcare professionals with 508 pixels-per-inch output to address the need for affordable laser-quality film output from full-field digital mammography (FFDM) and CR-based mammography systems. The CARESTREAM DRYVIEW 5850 Laser Imager, currently a work in progress, is scheduled to be available worldwide in the first half of 2009.
