ECR 2010: Scientific Programme

Medical Conferences News - ECR 2010

ECR 2010 (European Congress of Radiology) scientific programme offer a myriad of scientific and educational courses, will be held on March 4 – 8, 2010 in Vienna, Austria.

ECR 2010 , the biggest radiological meeting in Europe, will take place from March 4–8, 2010 in Vienna, Austria. With an extensive scientific programme spanning most aspects of imaging, ECR is a major event that radiologists from all over the world should attend to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in their field.

Each year, over 18,000 international delegates attend ECR, the annual meeting of the European Society of Radiology (ESR) and the second largest radiological congress worldwide.

Combining an authoritative scientific programme with a cutting-edge technical exhibition and exclusive services, ECR is a congress with a visionary outlook. The record 5,657 abstracts submitted this year bear witness to the confidence invested in the congress by top radiologists all over the world.

ECR 2010 scientific programme will offer a myriad of scientific and educational courses, including 75 Refresher Courses, and a number of innovations to underline the most important developments in imaging and better reflect the face of radiology in healthcare today. For the first time it will offer a mini course focusing on one organ – the liver – reflecting the fact that medicine is becoming increasingly more organ-oriented. It will also introduce a multidisciplinary symposium entitled ‘Managing Patients with Cancer’, at which surgeons, oncologists and radiologists have been invited to talk, bearing in mind that a multidisciplinary approach to radiology is essential for the future success of the discipline. Other multidisciplinary sessions will focus on post-processing of CT and MRI in stroke patients, and musculoskeletal US in the hand, wrist, foot and ankle, and ECR will also offer 21 Satellite Symposia and three Hands-on Workshops.

Categorical Courses on abdominal emergencies, imaging of lung diseases and radiology of the spine, a wide range of interactive teaching sessions and New Horizons sessions on MRI in lung diseases, hybrid and functional imaging, will also be on offer, among many others. Finally, Professional Challenges Sessions on teaching, changes and challenges in the discipline, and what radiologists can do to protect themselves in case of legal action should spark the interest of each and every imaging professional.

The popular ‘ESR meets’ programme, which aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and contact between radiologists and industry partners from all over the world, will see contingents from Argentina, Poland and Saudi Arabia presenting the state of radiology in their respective countries. In recent years, partner disciplines have also been a part of the ‘ESR meets’ programme, and in 2010, neurologists will be present to discuss their collaboration with radiology via the theme 'Ischemic stroke: Diagnosis and treatment'.
