EHR Developmental Funds To US States
CMS has awarded ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act ) funds to six state Medicaid programs for planning activities to implement an EHR incentive program.
The states and awards are: Colorado, $798,000; Mississippi, $1.47 million; North Carolina, $2.29 million; Nevada, $1.05 million; Utah, $396,000; and Wyoming, $596,000.
The ARRA provides a 90% federal match for state planning activities to administer EHR incentive payments to Medicaid providers, ensure proper payments through audits, and encourage interactions within the system and also the "meaningful use" of Electronic Health Records. CMS has awarded the matching funds to 32 states and territories since, November.
The following states are also included to receive funds for the development of EHR from the US Govt.
- New Mexico, with about $405,000 for the EHR planning work.
- Missouri will receive approximately $1.53 million in federal matching funds.
- Puerto Rico will receive approximately $1.80 million in federal matching funds.
- Oregon will receive approximately $3.53 million in federal matching funds.
