Smaller EMR Providers Get Benefited
Eventhough larger EMR providers tried to convince the physicians that their EMR service would be more secure and stable for many years, the marketplace is concentrating on smaller providers.
The establishment of electronic medical records standards for information exchange, such as HL7, has helped the smaller EMR providers to be interoperable as the larger providers. Also, the larger providers targeted on high level institutions, resulting in the neglection of smaller practices. This led the smaller providers to intrude and provide EMR to smaller practices since they were adopting the electronic medical records more than the larger practices.
Also, the Government is planning to provide incentives to practices using EMR s by 2011. This increase in demand for EMR s will be a boon for the smaller vendors.
