Elekta, a human care company pioneering significant innovations and clinical solutions for treating cancer and neurological conditions, announces the successful conclusion of the 1st meeting of the MOSAIQ Radiation Treatment Planning (RTP) Particle Therapy Global Council.
Set within the wonderful Scenery of Courmayeur in the Italian Alps, the goal and achievement of the meeting was to develop robust planning tools in all Particle Therapy environments including Protons and Carbon ions within the MOSAIQ RTP framework. A collaborative discussion placed strong emphasis on Workflow Optimization and Integration with the EMR and how to improve Outcome Analysis and Evidence Based Medicine in Particle Therapy.
The council included representatives from industry leaders in the Particle Therapy field including Elekta and IBA, as well as innovators from ProCure, Trento, Oklahoma, NIRS-Japan and the University of Tuebingen. Participation from additional Particle Therapy leading centers is expected for the next Council meeting to be held during the 48th PTCOG in Heidelberg, Germany, September 2009.
The support of IBA Particle Therapy was greatly appreciated by members of the Elekta Group including Elekta Oncology, Impac Software, and CMS Software. The success of the meeting confirms the leadership of the two companies in the continuous development of a common strategy in the Particle Therapy field.
