Elekta collaborates with leading clinicians to help shape the future of oncology software

Elekta, Europe’s leading manufacturer of radiotherapy equipment and oncology software, has hosted its first European Radiation Oncology Information Systems Advisory Board meeting.

Comprised of oncologists, physicists and IT professionals from Europe, the newly-formed Board will work closely with Elekta to identify, develop and refine software solutions that deliver better overall communication, process efficiency and quality, human care.

Elekta is proud to launch our first Radiation Oncology Information Systems Advisory Board for European users,” says Nicky Wilson, International Business Development Director for Oncology Information Systems. “With an increasing demand for Elekta products globally, our customers are keen to get involved, as well as excited to help shape the future of Elekta’s software system, MOSAIQ.”

With the advancement of technology, increasing regulatory requirements and the need to reduce costs and increase efficiency within oncology practices, oncology-specific information systems are beginning to play a greater role within clinical departments. As Elekta’s growth in the OIS market has increased rapidly, consistent European demand and interest facilitated the launch of this new Advisory Board.

"Streamlining information, image and treatment workflows is today the most important factor for treatment quality, patient safety and efficient patient care,” says Frank Lohr, M.D., vice chairman, Department of Radiation Oncology at University of Mannheim, Mannheim, Germany. “MOSAIQ enables us to manage and provide optimal treatment for the increasing number of our patients. Our feedback within the Elekta Radiation Oncology Information Systems Advisory Board will help to continue the improvement in cancer therapy based on ever advancing software tools."
