Emmi Solutions , LLC collaborated with the American Cancer Society to develop multimedia programs to inform and empower cancer patients, reduce disparities in care.

Emmi Solutions , LLC, creators of Web-based interactive multimedia patient education programs, has collaborated with the American Cancer Society, the nation’s leading voluntary health organization and the preeminent source of cancer information and service, to expand Emmi Solutions’ existing suite of cancer-related programs.

Emmi Solutions developed these programs with the assistance and expertise of the American Cancer Society. The programs simplify complex medical information in a way that makes it easy for patients and their caregivers to understand. Emmi programs use a soothing voice, animation and easy-to-read text to enhance learning, engage patients and encourage them to take an active role in their health care.

The new programs include topics such as chemotherapy and radiation. These programs will be an added value to existing Emmi Solutions’ clients. Additionally, patients can be provided an access code to view an Emmi Solutions cancer program by contacting the American Cancer Society’s National Cancer Information Center (NCIC).

Hospitals across the country use Emmi Solutions programs to help educate and engage their patients, such as NorthShore University HealthSystem, which includes several hospitals around the Chicago area. “When a cancer diagnosis is given, patients may be confused and overloaded with information before meeting with their doctors,” explains David J. Winchester, M.D., chief of the Division of General Surgery and Chair of Surgical Oncology, NorthShore University HealthSystem. “By prescribing this type of technology, we help our patients to focus on accurate information and extend our conversations beyond the hospital’s walls, increasing the understanding and retention of critical aspects of their care. This facilitates a consistent delivery of knowledge to all of our patients."
