Select whether you want to edit your profile, details, picture or privacy settings at: Members >> Profile.

Remember, the more information you provide the quicker members will connect with you.

Uploading a picture makes a huge difference - don't be a stranger, show your face!

Find your friends on a map (geolocation)

'Friend's Location' is a really cool tool... It locates all of your MedicExchange friends on a map (provided they have entered their address on their profile), shows you their picture, and provides a link directly to their profile.

To activate: Members >> Applications >> Browse >> Add ‘Friend’s Location’.

To view and use ‘Friend’s Location’, scroll down your profile: Members >> Profile.

Import an external blog, RSS or Twitter feed onto your profile

You can import any external blog, RSS or Twitter feed and display it directly onto your profile.

Go to: Members >> Applications >> Browse >> Add ‘Feeds’ >> Settings - then enter the URL/RSS feed and number of posts that you want displayed at any one time.

To view the feed, scroll down your profile: Members >> Profile.

Post comments on a member's Wall

You can leave comments on both your own and other members’ walls as long as the ‘Wall’ application is enabled.

To activate: Members >> Applications >> Browse >> Add ‘Wall’.

To view your ‘Wall’, scroll down your profile: Members >> Profile.

Search for members by: name, title, company/hospital, country

1) You can search for members by: education, profession, contact details, medical interests, and name.

- Go to Members > Friends > Advanced Search, and enter your search criteria.

2) Alternatively, you can quickly locate other members who share the exact same personal information.

- Go to Members > Profile, and click on any of the bolded values on your own profile. For example, if your title is 'CIO', then click on 'CIO' for a list of all other CIOs on MedicExchange.

User guide for MedicExchange Social Networking Tools

Home

Home shows Latest Members, Recent Activities of MedicExchange community and Recent Group Activities.

Profile

Profile page is where your personal profile and your applications will be displayed. A User Profile picture can be displayed from your images and it will be automatically resized.

The top on the right side of the page display your profile details. You may edit it through the edit button. Under the Profile details, shows the status updates of your Friends and a button to list all your friends

Your profile name will display some details. Karma, Member since, Last online and Profile view(s). Below them, you may update your status, such as what are you currently up to, etc. This board will also update you with any incoming message or friend request.

Moving on, you will find four modules buttons. First is "invite friends" button to allow you invite friends from your contact email by keying in your friend's email. Next are "Add Photos", "Add Apps" and "Start a Group" Button.

Other than above, the Profile page also display other details. First is the update of the users latest activities. Continued with the list of applications that you have added on.

Karma

Karma is a user point-system used in MedicExchange. It shows how active you are in MedicExchange. Karma will only be activated only when you have uploaded a picture in your user profile. Otherwise, you will forever have no Karma points.

Groups

Under the groups tab, shows which groups you currently join. You will only be able to see the Groups if you have added the Groups application. Go to Application ---> Edit, and add the Groups application.

Photos

Shows images you have uploaded to your Profile. You will only see images if you have added the Photos application. Go to Application ---> Edit, and add the Photos application.

Wall

In Wall, you and your friends (at current time of writing, others too) are able to leave a comment on your Profile Page. You will only see the comments if you have added the Walls application. Go to Application ---> Edit, and add the Walls application.

MedicExchange's Wall supports Seyret. You can post Youtube videos by typing {youtube}...{/youtube}

Let's say the Youtube link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voYkKxSPkfw&feature=related

To paste the Youtube video on the Wall, you do this

Custom Fields

In user profile custom fields, for those text field that represent a url link (e.g. Home Page), you can add the string 'http://' follow by your url address, e.g. 'http://www.medicexchange.com'. During value display in profile page, the string value will automatic converted to clickable hyperlink.

Application

There are many applications on jomsocial. You can choose which application you would like to have on your account.

Click here for the list of Applications.

To see the list of applications, go to Application --> Browse

To edit it, go to Application --> Edit. Here, you will be able to:

1. find out what are these applications for

2. setting each of the application based on your preferences

3. set the arrangement of applications by dragging it (ctrl + drag up or down).

4. adjust the privacy setting of each application

5. remove the application that you do not want to use

Personal Messaging

MedicExchange personal messaging system allows you to send a message to any site members easily. There are 2 ways to send a message, via your own inbox or by click on user's profile and write a message.

Groups

You can join and participate in groups easily. Before you can post on the group wall or create a discussion, you will first need to become a member of the group. Click the "Join Now" to join your group.

To manage Group that you joined, go to Application --> Group.

Here, you can view the current groups, search a group as well as view groups that you have joined. You can also create a new group.

Group

Announcement

Announcements lists all bulletins you with to make to the group. Announcements does not support replies. Only Group founder can Create Bulletin for Announcements.

Discussion

Discussion lists all discussions anyone posts in the groups. Discussions support replies from group members.

Wall

Wall supports Wall posts from members of a group. Wall also supports Syret (hence youtube videos). Only Group founder can Remove Wall posts.

Photos & Media

To manage your photos, go to Application --> Media.

Here, you can upload new photos, browse them and create photo albums.

Talking on Medicexchange.com

MedicExchange is not just about reading, it is also all about talking and discussing what is happening in the world of radiology. Our social tools, a bit like Facebook or MySpace for radiologists is intended to let you connect up with fellow radiologists and share insights, thoughts, rants and general memes.

The first thing you need is people to talk to: so why not invite your friends to join the MedicExchange community: just go to Friends tab and then choose Invite Friends in the dropdown and then simply enter their email addresses. Simple.

There are four ways you can join the conversation:

Comment on our articles (you can keep track of your comments in your profile to remember all your Eureka moment utterances)
Send messages to friends (of course you need to make some first)
Join Groups (and even start one)
Chat with people on your friends list

Upload photos onto your profile

To upload photos, go to: Members >> Applications >> Photos >> Create New Album >> Add Photo.

View your or other members’ photos at: Members >> Applications >> Photos >> All Photos or My Photos.

Upload slideshare presentations onto your profile

Seen a good presentation on Slideshare recently? Then share it with others.

Go to: Members > Applications > Browse > Add Slide Share > Click Settings > then enter the Title and Username of the Slide Share presentation, and select landscape/portrait.
