Announcing GE Healthcare’s Surgery Suite Solution at TCT 2009

Company News - GE Healthcare

GE Healthcare will launch their Surgery Suite at TCT 2009

As technology advances, medical procedures are modified and refined. New procedures based on new care protocols are developed. The result is the need to do a wide variety of procedures in the lab. As part of their display at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2009 meeting, Sept. 21-25, San Francisco, Calif., GE Healthcare will launch their Surgery Suite.

Advanced Technology

The Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) suite is based on clinically relevant solutions that are currently a part of GE’s extensive product portfolio for the operating room (OR) environment. The products include, but are not limited to:

Innova X-ray: Digital X-ray cardiovascular imaging system

Innova IVUS: Fully integrated intravascular ultrasound

Innova 3D: Rapid acquisition and reconstruction of 3D-images in the cardiovascular lab
Innova Dose : Set, customize and modify dose preference by protocol, by patient and by physician

InnovaIQ Table: vascular tilting table

Mac-Lab Hemodynamic Recording with Integrated PACS: Seamlessly integrates data from the PACS into the Hemodynamic recording system

Anesthesia Delivery & Monitoring Systems: Delivers anesthesia while capturing and integrating critical patient data

Ultrasound imaging: Complete suite of imaging solutions for cardiovascular procedures

Centricity IT Systems: More than 30 software solutions that integrate patient data enterprise wide to create electronic medical records

Performance Solutions for Surgery Transformation: A broad range of products and services designed to measurably improve healthcare quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

“Our MIS suite offering demonstrates the phenomenal depth of products and robust experience we have in this area,” said Hooman Hakami, President & CEO, Interventional Systems for GE Healthcare. “Combining our proven Innova imaging technology with other advanced technologies allows us to help provide targeted, clinically relevant solutions.”

“I love the flexibility of the Innova X-ray system in the OR environment for minimally invasive surgery,” said Christopher Lesar, MD, Parkridge Medical Center, Chattanooga, Tenn. “The advanced applications on the systems allow us to accommodate a wide variety of procedures.”

MIS is typically much less intrusive than traditional surgeries, which require larger incisions and corresponding recovery times. Patients also typically experience fewer infections and less scarring. The number of interventional procedures performed in a MIS suite continues to grow, and includes procedures such as valve repair and replacement, atrial and ventricular septal defect repair, and atrial appendage clip or removal.

“We're trying to transform the way healthcare is delivered worldwide,” said Hakami. “As our MIS Suite demonstrates, that goal is clearly within our grasp.”
