GE Selected for Successful Integration of Dynamic Imaging Products and Technologies into the Centricity Product Line and Subsequent Global Launch of Centricity PACS-IW
GE Healthcare, a leading provider of information technology, announced that growth consulting company Frost & Sullivan has awarded them the 2009 Growth Strategy Leadership of the Year Award in Medical Imaging. The award is based upon Frost & Sullivan’s recent analysis of the medical imaging market segment, which recognizes the growth path that GE embarked upon following its acquisition of Dynamic Imaging (DI) in October 2007.
“GE Healthcare is uniquely positioned in the marketplace with one of the leading edge RIS/PACS technologies and a collaborative, internal synergy within the Centricity group that continues to strengthen GE’s position in North America and abroad,” says Nadim Daher, Senior Industry Analyst, Frost & Sullivan. “The multifaceted growth strategy that GE has put into effect capitalized on the strategic DI acquisition and revitalized the company’s imaging informatics business in a mature market segment.”
Throughout 2008, the newly re-branded Centricity PACS-IW from the Dynamic Imaging Solutions division helped GE develop new market segment opportunities, specifically in physician offices for Web-based PACS, and Web-based RIS/PACS for hospitals (Centricity Radiology-IW) and outpatient imaging centers (Centricity RIS/PACS-IW). This was followed by the release of Centricity PACS–IW worldwide based on English, and as of RSNA 2008 support for four additional languages – French, German, Italian and Japanese. Frost & Sullivan also noted the launch of Centricity PACS Web Diagnostic (“Web DX”) at RSNA 2008 as a significant milestone that demonstrates GE’s commitment to integrating Dynamic Imaging’s Web technology into the existing Centricity portfolio, further advancing diagnostic Web capabilities for installed Centricity PACS customers.
“GE is honored to accept this award from Frost & Sullivan, which validates the success of our Dynamic Imaging acquisition and demonstrates that this was just the right accelerant to our winning business strategy,” says Don Woodlock, Vice President and Global General Manager, GE Healthcare IT Imaging Solutions Group. “This strategy includes leveraging Dynamic‘s acclaimed Web-based PACS across numerous US and global market segments, and integrating the Web-based diagnostic viewer with advanced streaming technology to Centricity PACS.”
In addition to this Frost & Sullivan award, GE Healthcare’s Centricity PACS-IW was named Best in KLAS-PACS by analyst KLAS Research and has maintained a #1 PACS ranking from analyst MD Buyline for nearly 3 years .
Frost & Sullivan’s Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global market segments for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance. The Growth Strategy Leadership award is presented each year to a company that exhibits an exceptional growth strategy within the industry. Through primary and secondary research methods, Frost & Sullivan tracked and compared companies’ financial data from year-to-year to evaluate growth patterns. Based on this data and above-listed successes, Frost and Sullivan determined that the Dynamic Imaging acquisition, coupled with a winning business model and integration of IW technology into the Centricity portfolio, helped propel GE Healthcare’s position in the North American and global imaging informatics market segments.
