GE Healthcare Signs Exclusive Arrangement with West Physics Consulting to Further Assist Customers with Accreditation Support

Company News - GE Healthcare

GE Healthcare announced it has entered into an exclusive collaboration with West Physics Consulting to provide accreditation support services for GE’s magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI ), computed tomography ( CT ), nuclear medicine, and positron emission tomo.

GE Healthcare announced it has entered into an exclusive collaboration with West Physics Consulting to provide accreditation support services for GE’s magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI ), computed tomography ( CT ), nuclear medicine, and positron emission tomography ( PET ) customers seeking accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR®).

GE Healthcare is committed to improving the quality of healthcare delivered to patients worldwide and has been providing accreditation support to its imaging customers since 2008. GE Healthcare hopes to assist even more customers with achieving ACR accreditation by expanding its current accreditation support program.

The new service offerings that this collaboration brings will help hospitals and outpatient facilities nationwide achieve accreditation for their GE and non-GE imaging systems the first time they apply, and then reliably maintain it. Specifically, the services are designed to help customers through all areas of the ACR application and ongoing maintenance process: clinical image submission; phantom image submission; yearly medical physicist survey; and site quality control measures. The result is a comprehensive support package that includes personalized instruction on scanning the required clinical exams, expert scanning of the required phantom exams, as well as advice on the proper way to prepare submissions and complete forms.”

“GE Healthcare and West Physics are excited to have designed a program that combines the capabilities of highly-knowledgeable GE field engineers and clinical applications specialists with West Physics’ elite medical physics staff, resulting in a cohesive team approach to helping our clients through this sometimes challenging and confusing process,” said Jack Albertson, General Manager of Training in Partnership (TiP) Applications for GE Healthcare. “We understand the increasing importance of accreditation to our diagnostic imaging customers and we want to ensure that these customers have access to the very best support possible to achieve accreditation quickly and successfully.”

West Physics Consulting is the leading national provider of medical and health physics consulting services and specializes in quality assurance testing of advanced modalities. By collaborating with West Physics Consulting, GE Healthcare is now able to offer a full suite of support services that can help address the administrative, clinical, and physics portions of the accreditation process.

“West Physics prides itself on being the radiation safety and medical physics solution for some of the nation’s most respected providers of diagnostic imaging services. We are thrilled to now provide services in collaboration with GE Healthcare in a manner that will simplify the accreditation experience for GE's customers and also result in a faster and more successful application process,” said W. Geoffrey West, M.Eng., DABR, CHP, founder and president of West Physics.

“West Physics Consulting has established a proven track record in the field of radiation safety compliance and consulting services and maintains an outstanding reputation in the diagnostic medical physics arena,” said Albertson. “At GE Healthcare , we have a strong history of successful relationships with organizations that share our commitment to quality and service. West Physics is one of those organizations and we believe this relationship will further enhance the quality of service we provide to our customers.”
