GE Introduces Innova EPVision at ACC.10

GE Healthcare introduces Innova EPVision, an image fusion software with uncompromised registration and image stabilization features to compensate for cardiac and respiratory motion.

GE Healthcare , the $17 billion medical technology division of General Electric Company introduced Innova EPVision, a new software application that effectively fuses real time 2D x-ray images and 3D cardiac models from multiple modalities such as x-ray, computerized tomography ( CT ) and Magnetic Resonance (MR), and incorporates image stabilization features to reduce image motion that occurs with patient movement or breathing. The application was introduced at the American Cardiology College 59th Annual Scientific Meeting Boston, ACC10, celebrated in Atlanta, Georgia, March 14 – 16, 2010.

Built upon Innova’s exceptional 3D imaging platform, Innova EPVision provides image overlay and delivers gated image stabilization, reducing image artifact that can occur with patient movement, cardiac motion or breathing. During procedures, the gated image stabilization enables accurate visualization for better localization and guidance of ablation catheters and other devices during interventional procedures such a complex EP procedures.

“Fusing 2D and 3D images helps provide unique visual aspects during procedures,” said Anita Makhija, General Manager of Marketing for Interventional at GE Healthcare. “However, our customers tell us that fusion without motion compensation is not a particularly useful function.”

“Fusing 3D images and real-time x-ray with GE’s Innova EPVision and gated image stabilization significantly reduces the motion artifact, giving me greater confidence that the catheter is where it appears on in the image during complex ablation procedures”, says Jasbir Sra, Clinical Professor of Medicine and Director of Basic Electrophysiology Research at Aurora Sinai Medical Center.

GE’s Innova EPVision provides uncompromised registration performance of the 3D overlay on the 2D fluoroscopy with ECG gating and motion compensation. The application is enhanced by image stabilization features such as ECG gated display and motion tracking. These tools help reduce image motion that occurs with patient movement or breathing. Innova EPVision is available on GE Healthcare ’s Innova 2100IQ cardiovascular x-ray system along with the complete family of single-plane Innova systems from GE Healthcare.
