GE Receives Prestigious Respiratory Care Honor

Company News - GE Healthcare

GE HealthcareGE Healthcare was recently named one of five companies to receive the Zenith Award from the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).

The prestigious award is given to outstanding companies that provide products and services to the respiratory care profession. The award was presented during the AARC’s 55th International Respiratory Congress in San Antonio in December 2009.

The American Association for Respiratory Care is a professional membership association of 49,750 respiratory therapists and other clinicians. It primarily focuses on respiratory therapy education and research. This award is voted on by the AARC members (largely composed of respiratory therapists) who are selected on the following criteria:  quality of equipment/supplies, accessibility/helpfulness of the sales team, responsiveness of service, truth in advertising, and support of the respiratory profession.

“We are thrilled that our efforts to bring the best possible products and services that we can to the respiratory marketplace have been acknowledged with this wonderful award, “ said Gaurav Agarwal, General Manager, Respiratory Care, GE Healthcare. “As a fairly new player in the respiratory marketplace, we’ve worked to meet the challenge of high standards in patient care – and we continue to raise the bar for this industry.”

“AARC Members, the very clinicians and researchers who utilize the respiratory care equipment, devices and pharmaceutical products that these companies produce, chose the recipients via a special ballot published in AARC Times magazine,” said AARC President Timothy Myers, RRT-NPS. “This selection process makes the Zenith Award one of the most prestigious awards bestowed to our partners in industry by the respiratory care profession.”

The AARC established the Zenith Award program in 1989 to honor respiratory care product and service providers who provide the respiratory care community with exemplary service. GE Healthcare ’s Respiratory Care devices range from ventilators to sleep care products.

The Association’s goals are to ensure that respiratory patients receive safe and effective care from qualified professionals and to benefit respiratory health care providers. It continues to advocate, on behalf of pulmonary patients, for appropriate access to respiratory services provided by qualified professionals.
