Remote Hosted Solution Architected to Help Community Hospital Meet Performance Goals, meaningful use

GE Healthcare , a leading provider of healthcare IT solutions, announced the successful implementation of Centricity Enterprise under a Remote Hosted Option (RHO) delivery model at Marion General Hospital in Ohio. Marion General is the latest community hospital to shift to GE Healthcare's Centricity Enterprise hospital EMR solution.

"At Marion General Hospital, we are always looking for ways to improve the efficiency of our hospital operations, while enhancing patient care," said Chris King, Marion General's Director of IT. "With Centricity Enterprise as our EMR platform, we are able to do just that."

A member of the OhioHealth System, Marion General is using Centricity Enterprise's remote hosted model, which takes much of the burden out of the IT staffing and infrastructure dilemma by turning maintenance, upgrades and hardware support over to GE's full field technical and service teams. "This allows Marion General's clinical staff to focus on what they do best," said Laurent Rotival, vice president and general manager of GE Healthcare IT. "They're able to focus on patient care and enjoy the tools in our solution that can help them drive significant enhancements to it."

Marion General Hospital is excited about future cost and time-savings afforded by Centricity Enterprise's intuitive medical record assessment feature, which enables physicians to electronically manage and reconcile the patient record without losing time or risking inaccuracies with manual processes. The free flow of information allows for easy access to older patient records and quick turnaround of signature requirements, enhancing patient care. The installation of Centricity Enterprise has improved the workflow of the patient registration system, making it easier and safer to register patients.

"Centricity Enterprise enhances the clinician's 'chart' experience by improved access to current and historical patient information," said Dr. Rick Flaksman, Marion General Hospital's Medical Director of Information Systems. "It is a very robust source of information and assists clinicians in making sound clinical decisions."

"With this implementation, we improved clinical workflow and added significant functionality for our clinicians," said King. "Our forms are being created on demand, old paper charts are being viewed electronically, and physicians are now able to sign orders and reconcile any deficiencies, online. The end result, for us, is a more comprehensive electronic medical record."
