Georgia Regional Extension Center Selects Greenway’s PrimeSUITE

$19.5 Million REC Grant to Connect 5,200 Providers, Achieve Meaningful Use

The Georgia Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (GA-HITREC), has selected Greenway Medical Technologies , Inc.’s single-database electronic health record ( EHR ), practice management and interoperability solution PrimeSUITE ® as a preferred EHR solution for its statewide deployment initiative within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) REC healthcare grant program.

“We are pleased that Georgia’s health information technology leaders recognized the combination of EHR functionality and implementation resources Greenway® has committed to our physician practice customers nationally, and will dedicate to the Georgia REC deployment program,” said President and CEO Tee Green. “As with other Regional Extension Center selections into which Greenway has been included, we in turn recognize our critical responsibility in the establishment of healthcare networks we believe will truly improve population health.”

The REC program is being administered by the Morehouse School of Medicine’s National Center for Primary Care (NCPC), with assistance statewide by organizations such as the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute. Additionally, the state of Georgia has received funding of more than $10 million for the Department of Community Health (DCH) to establish a state Health Information Exchange ( HIE ) program.

“Greenway’s certified EHR functionality, usability and data exchange capabilities, among other features, will help the GA-HITREC build a sustainable model,” said Dominic H. Mack, MD, MBA, deputy director of the National Center for Primary Care. “Solutions with a track record in implementation and service, as well as the presence of their technology in physician practices throughout the state of Georgia, are an added value.”

Regional Extension Centers also selecting PrimeSUITE include:

  • The http://www.greenwaymedical.com/news/article/?id=271 [Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI) for its $13.4 million grant program targeting 2,500 providers.
  • The Alaska eHealth Network (AeHN) for its $3.6 million grant program targeting 1,000 providers in 260 practices.
  • The New York City Regional Electronic Adoption Center for Health (NYC REACH) for its $21.7 million grant program.
  • The New York eHealth Collaborative’s (NYeC) $26.5 million REC grant program to implement EHRs within state borders outside of New York City’s five boroughs.
  • The Iowa Health Information Regional Extension Center (HITREC) for its $5.5 million program targeting 1,200 area providers.

Overall, the national HHS REC program has granted $677 million to establish 62 centers linking group practices, critical access hospitals, community health centers and related healthcare organizations through sustainable two-year grants to deploy EHR s in those settings to connect healthcare organizations and establish meaningful use functionality.
