Read our coverage of HIMSS 2009 in Chicago with a local team and videos from the halls. Prepare your self with our preview articles. The annual meeting and exhibition of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS 2009) is to be held at McCormick Place, Chicago from April 4-8. The conference allows physicians, policy makers, healthcare IT professionals, vendors, and peers to come together with the goal of creating a better future for global healthcare. It is a forum to both establish new business relationships and speak with medical imaging professionals facing the same healthcare issues in the ever-changing healthcare industry. HIMSS will also offer education sessions, workshops, product presentations, and will feature many keynote speakers.

The technical exhibition at HIMSS is a major attraction of the meeting. Here the leading radiology companies from all over the world display, at their booths, the latest innovations in the field.

Some interesting booths include:
Harris Corporation, booth # 3974. They will demonstrate a new capability – global access to medical imagery.  This demo will show how medical imagery will be digitized and moved from the battlefield to stateside via secure tactical radios. Harris Corporation will also make deal announcements in addition to demonstrating another new amazing capability - a fully operational system that electronically integrates federal agencies and healthcare providers.

Cellular Specialties Inc., Booth # 5859. It will present Hospital Wireless Deployment: Challenges & Solutions, CSI will be also showcasing their wireless products and solutions, Booth # 1137.

Pano Logic, booth 5708. Pano will be announcing the newest version of their product, the Pano System 2.6, which will include Pano Remote, a new feature that uses a USB key to turn traditional desktop computers into secure Pano devices without the need for a virtual private network. The Pano System leverages server virtualization for a totally new approach to the traditional PC-centric desktop architecture by moving all software, memory and drivers from the desktop to the data center. This centralization offers easier management as well as easy software updates and security and patch rollouts at a far lower total cost of ownership than with traditional PCs.

Salar, Inc., booth #3551. Salar’s suite of products is designed to transform traditional physician paper-driven documentation into electronic format to boost clinical productivity, operational efficiency and care team collaboration. Salar currently provides solutions to many of the nation’s leading hospitals including: Johns Hopkins Hospital, UMass Memorial Health Care, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the George Washington University Hospital.

Siemens Enterprise Communications, booth #2276. Siemens will demonstrate its strength in unified communications and secure networks. The Open Communications portfolio enables you to deliver greater quality of care while optimizing workflow and processes throughout your healthcare enterprise.

Sentillion, booth# 743.  Sentillion will be exhibiting two products, ap2 and the Vergence Wizard. Tap2 is an advanced authentication solution that allows a caregiver to tap their proximity badge and get direct access to their core clinical applications. The Vergence Wizard is a unique point-and-click tool for generating application bridges, where bridge features are presented as a series of interactive animations that can be easily arranged to meet the specific needs of each target application.

Siemens Medical Solutions, Booth #2036. Siemens will be discussing the latest in clinical IT solutions, revenue cycle management, patient safety & point of care products, ambulatory, and specific Image & Knowledge Management systems (including PACS, RIS, and CAD).
