M*Modal Unveils at HIMSS 2010

Medical Conferences News - HIMSS 2010

M*Modal will be demonstrating how ‘Speech Understanding' Technology simplifies input and improves adoption of electronic medical records at HIMSS 2010 in Atlanta, GA.

M*Modal, pioneer of advanced Speech Understanding technology and provider of on-demand conversational documentation services to demonstrate how physicians can create, review, reconcile and update electronic medical records ( EMR ) using a physician-friendly workflow powered by narrative dictation, at HIMSS 10 , Booth #1157, in Atlanta, GA, March 1-3.

Showcase Demo: Complete EMR workflow through narrative dictation

M*Modal will demonstrate how physicians can easily create, review, and reconcile documentation for the EMR through narrative dictation. Using Speech Understanding technology, the dictation is transformed into structured data that fulfills EMR data entry requirements for orders, problem list, vital signs, allergies and medications. This method increases physician adoption of the EMR because no change in familiar dictation habits is required.

New Product Preview: EMR Voice Input

This new functionality from M*Modal allows a physician to dictate directly into existing EMR software. This component of M*Modal's enterprise solution enables physician- friendly input into existing EMR systems, without the need for workflow adjustment or changes in document services. EMR Voice Input can increase physician satisfaction and adoption of EMR systems by eliminating tedious data entry.

New Product Preview: Clinical Discovery Solution

M*Modal will unveil the first healthcare search and discovery solution that unlocks rich data found in clinical narrative documents. As part of M*Modal's long term technology vision, Clinical Discovery Solution realizes the full potential of electronic medical records by linking clinical narrative to healthcare reporting and decision making. The system creates and indexes semantically interoperable, semi-structured data from flat text documents or consumes the existing Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) documents that M*Modal business partners are already creating today. This new service offering enables applications such as advanced medical record search, compliance reporting, clinical decision support and outcome analysis.

Presentation: M*Modal CMO to lead HIMSS education session about Healthstory

"Conventional wisdom is that documents are bad and discrete data is good, but the Healthstory project offers a bridge between free flowing narrative clinical documentation and semantically interoperable data while allowing physicians to continue to use and capture the full story."

Dr. Nick van Terheyden, Chief Medical Officer at M*Modal and MD Director of the Medical Transcription Industry Association (MTIA), will hold an education session on The Healthstory Project: Harmony and Clinical Narrative/Structured Data in the EMR ; a lecture on interoperability and standards.

The presentation will take place at HIMSS10 in Atlanta, at the Georgia World Congress Center, on Wednesday, March 3, in Room B308, 2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
