Hansen Medical Announces Launch of New Product Enhancement to Sensei(R) X Robotic Catheter System
| Company News - Hansen Medical |
Enhances Clinical Efficiency, Ease of Use for Physicians During Interventional Procedures
Hansen Medical , Inc. , the global leader in flexible robotics and the developer of robotic technology for accurate 3D control of catheter movement, announced the launch of a new product enhancement to improve the clinical efficiency and ease of use of the Company's innovative Sensei X Robotic Catheter System, a flexible robotic platform used by physicians during interventional cardiac arrhythmia procedures.
The new product has three main components:
-- Expands compatibility of Hansen Medical 's CoHesion(TM) 3D Visualization Module with St. Jude Medical 's next-generation EnSite Velocity(TM) Cardiac Mapping System. The CoHesion 3D Visualization Module provides physicians the ability in 3D to visualize, locate and robotically control catheters within the heart to diagnose heart rhythm disorders.
-- Introduces a new feature of the IntelliSense(R) Fine Force Technology(R) Interface called IS Flex. IS Flex is a tactile feedback mechanism the user experiences when actively using the instinctive motion controller (IMC) on the Sensei X system. As the
IntelliSense forces rise, the motion scale ratio is adjusted so the IMC motion results in a smaller catheter tip motion. IS Flex is currently available in the European Union (EU) and is under review by the US FDA and not available in the United States.
-- Adds 3D Instinctive View, which provides Sensei X users with a feature that allows for 1-touch synchronization of the Sensei X view to that of a 3D anatomical map.
Hansen Medical President and CEO Bruce Barclay noted that the new product enhancement consists of a software update to be performed on all installed Sensei X systems to ensure the flexible robotic platform provides the best in patient care.
"This system update underscores our commitment to continually enhance our technology and improve the experience for physicians using our products," said Barclay. "This update will improve workflow and, with the CoHesion update, allow an even broader group of clinicians to experience the efficiency and value flexible robotics provides to patient care."
