HLI Medical Terminology Tools to Help AZZLY Clients Improve Patient Care, Maximize Office Efficiencies and Optimize Reimbursements

( HLI ), the global leader in medical terminology management, and AZZLY, an innovative provider of workflow-enhancing ambulatory clinical and business solutions, announced a strategic relationship that will embed HLI’s Language Engine within AZZLY’s integrated electronic health record / practice management / personal health record ( EHR / PM / PHR ). This will allow physicians and nurses to continue documenting care using free text, which the Language Engine will automatically translate into the coded data needed to meet the latest reimbursement and quality reporting requirements, and to enhance clinical, operational and financial outcomes.

HLI ’s Language Engine is a powerful, scalable and flexible software solution that integrates and manages medical terminologies to create true healthcare IT interoperability. It provides access to current versions of more than 100 clinical and administrative code sets, including SNOMED CT, ICD-9 and ICD-10, LOINC, CPT, RxNorm, HCPCS and others, and allows incorporation and mapping of local content to standards.

By automatically coding and standardizing free text, AZZLY clients avoid the loss of productivity and the sustained decline in patient loads that often result after a typical EMR implementation. The AZZLY/HLI solution not only eliminates a major barrier for EHR adoption, but also enhances workflow and revenue by converting clinical information into billing codes.

Enabling true seamless data interoperability allows physician practices to comply with growing mandates for quality reporting. It also facilitates the exchange of data, a key requirement for demonstrating meaningful use and qualifying for financial incentives under the HITECH provisions of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

AZZLY, a privately held company based in Vero Beach, Fla., is in final beta testing with practices in Florida and New York before the scheduled Q3 2010 national rollout of its on-demand, Web-based EHR/PM/PHR solution.
