Company Supports 12-Location, California Health Center as They Celebrate National Health Center Week

HealthPort , an industry leader in health information technology, announced their support of community health centers across the country during National Health Center Week, August 8-14, 2010. HealthPort is a proud bronze-level sponsor of the annual event established by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), an organization representing 1,250 centers that provide vital primary care to 20 million Americans with limited financial resources.

HealthPort manages health information for more than five million distinct users and currently serves more than 12% of the nation’s community health centers through their health information technology offerings which include electronic health record software, HealthPort EHR, practice management software, HealthPort PM and claims management software, HealthPort Revenue Cycle Management.

Seventy percent of community health center patients live in poverty according to a statement by NACHC. By offering comprehensive care to this population, including physical, mental and dental treatment, community health centers save America’s national health system between $9.9 billion and $17.6 billion a year as patients avoid emergency rooms and make better use of preventive services.

“Community health centers provide substantial benefits to America’s under and uninsured,” mentions Larry Armold, Vice President, General Manager, Solutions Division, HealthPort. “Our health information technology solutions help community health centers expand the reach of healthcare throughout the communities they serve.”

In addition to sponsoring National Health Center Week, HealthPort will provide hands-on support to all twelve locations of one of its community health center customers, National Health Services, Inc. in Kern County, California, during the organization’s upcoming health fair event, August 9th through 14th , 2010.
