Private Surgical Hospital UGMK in western Russia purchased PACS /VIS system from Vepro.
The Private Surgical Hospital UGMK,in the Urals, western Russia purchased PACS/VIS system from Vepro. After the gtk Policlinics’ decision in favour of a picture archiving and communication system from VEPRO, UGMK arrived at the purchase decision. UGMK will open its doors in September, in the university town of Yekaterinburg, which ranks among Russia’s megacities. The ultramodern medical campus was erected entirely according to western standards.
UGMK decided in favour of the PACS/EMR (Electronic Medical Record) solution from Vepro because the system is „made in Germany“, because all the data is stored in compliance with the medical standard DICOM 3.0, cyrillic font is supported, and because it is capable of representing the entire workflow. Furthermore, the software has been developed fully in-house at Vepro, thus safeguarding the safety of the investment.
The Vepro Information System (VIS) maps the processes in the hospital in their entirety – from patient admission to discharge. It supports the creation of the patient record, medical issues, therapy and resource planning, work lists, documentation, writing of medical reports, and data transfer for billing. It is implemented in all medical departments, such as Internal Medicine, Radiology, Cardiology, Surgery, as well as the in-patient department and ORs. The graphic representations of the patient process in the resource planner make available, to all staff of the hospital, a rapid overview of the patient status. All work processes have been designed before installation, with standards and Russian regulations integrated and documented in a project book.
“We now have an enterprise PACS solution which makes available to medical staff image, sequence, text, and result validation data by clicking just once”, explains UGMK head physician Dr. Oleg Chernov proudly. “In addition”, he continues, “there is a 99.9% high availability solution in the server and storage area, ensuring that the hospital can fulfil its medical tasks without restrictions even when a server or storage element fails.”
The solution includes an EMR archive in which all data is stored in DICOM format. This enables smooth communication with other hospitals inside and outside the country at all times. The integration includes the connection of more than 30 modalities. In addition, diagnostic workplace, presentation workplace, OR integration - including all modalities there -, EEG and ECG equipment, as well as all workplaces for image distribution, administration, documentation, and planning need to be installed and approved. “… an exciting task”, summarizes Randolph Sternberg, the vendor’s international sales manager, who is convinced that the tight timetable – which includes trainings and monitoring – will be adhered to fully.
